Fuel Burning Heater on MY2007 SC

Is this one of those things that was fitted but not activated? E.g. Disco 3? I now have an IIDTool which appears to let me turn it on, but I can't really test it as the current weather is too warm.

Ok, dumb question, but what does it look like? Laughing

Tried to find it in the online manuals but I'm not very mechanically minded so when they don't explain what things are I can't guess.

The easiest way to tell is like Stan said - look to see if you have the timer function on the screen.

(Instructions in your owners manual).

I have a 2007 S/C and I don't have the FBH. Not many petrol cars do actually. Maybe they figured the S/C does enough fuel burning without it... Rolling Eyes Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Well I can enable the FBH and the timer screen with the IIDTool, but I am dubious as to wether this allows me to actually use it. I guess I'll check it on my lunch break to see if the exhaust port is there.

Highly unlikely that an SC has an FBH - they're not generally needed on petrol engines unless you specifically want park heating.

Australia 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

I do have one on my supercharger but its to warm right now for it to turn on so all I get is the fans running if I turn on timed climate or activate it with the remote control , as other have said it's not impossible that you have it but quite unlikely .
My car came with the FBH with remote control and four zone climate control so some one was prepared to spend a lot extra on they're heating and comfort Thumbs Up 2008 MY Supercharged

four zone climate
remote park heater
and no ugly kid windows.

The FBH is standard on diesels as a supplementary heater. Diesels are so efficient that they do not even produce enough waste heat to heat the large RR interior quickly on a cold day so that a additional heat is necessary.

The highly inefficient petrol engines, on the other hand, produce waste heat on the order of a small nuclear reactor ( Razz ) so supplemental heat is unnecessary and an FBH was only fitted if 'Park Heating' was ordered as an option on purchase = somewhat rare.

'Park Heating' was also available as an option on diesels. This consisted of a software change to allow the timer function to appear on the screen and an electric water valve to divert the coolant to the car's interior first before heating the motor. The software change ('Park Heat' activation) can be done with the IIDTool. The water valve can also be retrofitted (Webasto, manufacturer of the FBH, even offer a kit) but is really only necessary in very cold conditions. Without the valve in very cold conditions the interior remains somewhat cool and snow and ice is possibly not thawed on the windows, but everything warms up very quickly once the motor has been started as everything has been pre-heated.

The FBH itself is fitted under the battery and is very difficult to see without removing the wheel well liner. You can see a short bit of stainless steel exhaust pipe about 1" in diameter right behind the RF wheel if you put your head all the way under the car. As noted above, the FBH only starts at low ambient temps, so checking the function by turning it on in the summer is difficult. If the option is in the menu an a petrol car, it will be there - unless of course someone has played on it with a diagnostic system.

It is possible to effect the SW change and actuate the Park Heat function with the IIDTool as we wanted to allow the change to be made if someone actually retrofitted the FBH. It will obviously not work without an FBH.

In the summer the Park Heat becomes a Timed Ventilation function as the vehicle assumes you want a pleasant interior temp and not a furnace. I recently read on another forum that someone complained because Timed Ventilation was not Timed Air-Conditioning (which would be nice actually), but this someone is obviously oblivious to the function of the cars AC as the engine needs to be on to turn the AC compressor.

HTH AllSeeing. You will only have the FBH if it was originally installed. The BMW dealer in Munich was offering overstocked FBH kits for X5's for €550 about a year ago. This would prolly even fit perfectly in the RR except possibly for some of the bracketry. They usually cost double that, tho.

2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey

the FBH only starts at low temperatures? haha.
this is the standard fob off given by dealers......it starts at 15 degrees normally. above that vent only.
it has nothing to do with summer or winter. below 15 degrees it heats. this temp is not so rare on a chilly summer morning.
below -20, the FBH works on the engine only.
