That foam filter referred to is the air dust filter, not the drier unit.

OK well you did ask for help Confused

It's on the compressor unit, black "pot" with two pipes going into a red marked socket and blue marked socket.

Hi Everyone,

T24 RES has got me started on this project, finally took the compressor out,

and took the drier unit to bits and took the silica beads out and as we speak are drying out

in the oven, not that i could tell that they were damp.

New brass silencer will be ordered from dan tomorrow, fingers crossed it will it all back together again,

Hi Sal the p38 air suspension was the same albeit a bit simpler and suffered all sorts of problems if the drier wasn't drained and looked after so they can and do throw up lots of faults sure the air suspension on ours will be the same sort of system just more complicated good luck

Hi, just to make you aware, you can buy new silica beads and felts on fleabay for around a score, then all will be new! I got a kit to do mine after the hole lot went Pete Tong in Birmingham, I made it as far as Northampton before the front hit the stops and a very slow drive home. So far I've replaced the front struts and rebuilt the compressor, as it was slow to start with I then got the air dryer kit, thinking that it must be blocked with powdered compressor ring. When the kit arrived, the car started to go up and down a lot quicker, so I haven't done it yet!! Think mine was just bedding the ring in! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Update

Good evening ,

Well approx one year later and a kick up the backside from T24 RES,

The compressor has been stripped and repaired and put back and basically it there was a double issue.

1. Drier unit, the silicon beads and filters needed replacing.

2. Conical brass muffler was blocked so needed replacing.

Thank you all for your input, now onto the next project, Sat Nav Antenna.
