I went out in car for the first time since replacing the FSR last week and thought it was rather chilly so decided to turn up the temperature. Still felt that the car wasn't warming up, so i thought I'd turn up the fan, only to discover that the fan wasn't running at all!

No amount of coaxing would bring it on, even hitting the "max" button had no effect.

With the engine off but the ignition on, I can hear a whirring kind of noise from behind the dash area when the heater is on, and this stops when the heater controls are turned off.

I've checked all the relevant fuses, so I'm starting to wonder if the FSR I fitted last week could be faulty?

edited to add that the rear blower isn't running either!

anyone got any other thoughts? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

'tis possible the fsr has gone again. One of my replacements "went" quite quickly. I noticed some shorting had been taking place around the connector, so it was possible I hadn't quite got it back together properly (had the same problem when i fitted new radiator and a hose blew off!)

Was it genuine or third party? I have been running happily for the last couple of years on a £16 jobby of eBay (I bought three so two spares waiting to happen now I have mentioned it).

Was going to say the whirring is the temperature monitoring fan but thought that ran all the time regardless of heater settings?

Check connections and then check again. Difficult spot to do it I know Smile .

its genuine LR.

the whirring only comes when i turn the heating on.

I'm a bit confused why the rear isn't working, i thought both were totally separate? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Yes rear is seperate (fuse in rear ndfi will confirm) and has its own FSR too. .

Seems the problem is solved. Removed the FSR, checked the blower by bridging across the connector.

Put it all back together and all is well! So perhaps a bad connection at the FSR methinks. Thumbs Up

Glad that's sorted, wonder why it took the rear out as well, maybe the rear runs through the front as well..... Pete

^ it seems that way. The rear fan speed switch doesn't seem to do anything but is controlled by the front fan control.

I was sure I read they were totally separate. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

If you press the rear fan switch on the front central console, doesn't that allow fan speed adjustment (ie you can inhibit the rear control to stop the kiddies playing?) GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus
