Service intervals 3.6

What are the intervals for serving a 3.6? Is it 12 months/15000 miles? Like an A and B service. And are there any belts/chains that need replacing at particular mileage/years?
Been using the search option but not got any real pointers on this. Thumbs Up

Every 12 months or upto 18k at most i think... The car will tell you (if you do high milage) when its due a service dependant on your driving style Thumbs Up

So, if you drive it to one extreme it will need servicing every 9k miles and to the other extreme 18K miles...

And NO there are NO belts or chains to service/change in "Normal" use... Thumbs Up

12 months or 15k miles Thumbs Up

There is an auxiliary drive belt to replace every 7 years, but no timing belts to worry about Thumbs Up

& looking at the pics from the 'Timing Chain / Engine out' thread it's one hell of an auxiliary drive belt.

Bet that makes you curse a tad during replacement Big Cry

Not really. Hardest part is getting the cooling fan out, without loosing too much coolant. That said, I have it perfected now, done enough of them Laughing

Is there a major service on the 3.6, like there is on the D3/4 at 160,000km?
thanks

No, that's the cambelt and pump belt you're thinking of. Only applies to the V6 cylinder diesels, (D3, D4, RRS) not the TDV8 or S/C models. Thumbs Up

There is a big 10yr service but most of the things on it like diff & transfer oils should be done far sooner imho... Think the gearbox is recommended then too??? Again we do ours every 30K rather than leaving it until 100K Thumbs Up

Hope that helps sir... Thumbs Up

I noticed that mine had a gearbox & transfer oil change at 35k, now at 65 I am going to get it in. Mine does very little off roading but dragging the tin tent adds work so will get it done Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Thanks from me too. It's better to spend £££ on oil and a filter now and then than to wait till its too late, then you are changing the oil and filter along with a a major component.
When would you recommend the transfer and diff oils?

Check them using an aerosol can lid... Take the drain bung out and let a small dribble run into a brightly coloured lid before refitting the bung. Then you can inspect its colour etc and make an informed decision...

Rear diffs in V8's (including TDV8) condensate terribly and often run out brown & rusty looking putrid oil so may need a double change (or re-checking a month after changing) Thumbs Up

Don't forget the drain plug is a magnet too Thumbs Up
