Hi, the sensor is close to the fire wall on the passenger side (LHD not sure if it is there on a RHD as well but expect so) if I remember correctly. Have a look it is quite obvious. It will also set off the alarm at random or not let the alarm arm itself so better get it sorted.

If you have the PDF workshop manual you will see a picture of it on page 2486. That is the only pic I could find of it. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Well this problem returned after a day or two. I repeated the exercise but did nothing this time. The switch is a bit stiff despite applying some lubrication. The alarm has started going off occasionally without explanation. Im tipping the bonnet switch, indicating the bonnet is open, is the cause.

Sounds like the switch is a goner. You can short circuit the wires, bypassing the switch and see if you have any "false alarms" during the next week or so. The switch shouldn't be pricey, not even in Oz where prices seem to be "inflated".

Or stick a rubber foot on the bonnet where the switch touches - I did this and no more problems Geoff |

Stan says nobody is going to nick your bonnet - probably true, but don';t forget you have a battery and other tasty goodies under the bonnet - i'd get it sorted if i were you. |

If it's like the previous LR incarnations of 'anti-intruder' systems under the bonnet, simply disconnect it. It will fail 'closed'.

Ive swapped a bonnet switch from a BMW 330 to see what happens. No error message. So yes looks like a new switch.
