I think it's worth it

Stan, despite my earlier jibe re the strip on the bonnet (still think that's tacky BTW) these look absolutely great and I imagine that the fog light part is pretty good when connected. I currently drive round with my sidelights on as I think the little lights in the headlights should be DRLs but these looks like I should have them. You mention a DRL switch so are they on all the time with the switch being an over ride to turn them off or do you just switch em on and off? Geoff

when the ignition is switched on the drls come on automatically via the switch, [its a little box actually] .....when the side lights are switched on the drls stay on , which is good for dusk times when headlight would be to much...
turn the headlights on and the drls automatically go off...
i've had this little box for about eight years now so i dont know if this one is still available but i've seen others on ebay that will do the job..

This can easily be done with a 5 pin (switch over) relay. Regards

i managed to temporally wire up the cob projetcors and they to are very bright..i dont think there's much 'forward' light though but i'll have a go when its dark..

I like the idea but I'm not sure about fitting myself, mainly the wiring part. Do you use your lights on auto?

New separate 5pin relay required located in engine bay connected to drl's as follows:-

Connect Ignition source cable with inline 5A fuse to terminal 30 of relay.

Connect cable to drl's to terminal 87a of relay.

Drl's earthed locally to bodywork.

Splice a cable into Main beam (or Dip Beam if you prefer) cable behind either headlight and run cable to connect with terminal 86 of relay.

Connect terminal 85 of relay to bodywork earth.

No cables connect to terminal 87.

This arrangement will result in the drl's coming on when the ignition is switched on and switch off when either main beam or dipped beam headlights are selected depending on which wire you spliced into behind the headlights.

Don't forget led's are voltage sensitive and need to be connected right way round, if they don't light first time reverse their connections.

Usually a 30A 5pin 12V relay is the easiest to source but a lower rating would be adequate.

5A cable is adequate but I have to admit I used standard twin speaker wire contained in 10mm convoluted cable sheathing when I did mine. More than adequate and I just happened to have a lot of it lying around.

Will come in handy when I install my DRLS. I think this is a great feature to add to my car. I just ordered the lights and will install them when I'm back from holidays.

Stan, do you think the center lights of the new unit are bright enough to replace the standard fog lights? 2002 L322 V8
