Disappointed with Gap Diagnostics

After Dan at Duckworths got me a Gap IID tool in less than 24 hours from order to doorstep, I’m rather disappointed to find that I can’t actually activate the device because Gap Diagnostics’ web servers are apparently not responding. In fact I can’t even download the manual!

I’ve used Mx Tools to look at Gap’s servers and the results confirm that both the web server and mail server have either died or are running incredibly slowly, and there seems to be no redundency.

Perhaps a seasoned user of their products can tell me whether this is this typical of Gap, but having spent £400 on one of their products I’d expect something a bit more professional at the other end.

Or maybe one of their competitors has DDOS’d them…?

(BTW: Absolutely no criticism of Dan or Duckworths intended – they’ve been brilliant)

Agree - they are usually super responsive & helpful, so not sure what the issue is.

Just had a tool around their site, including login and download, all seems fine. Suggest an email to Pat advising of the issues you are having. .

Agree with the comments re Gap and website. Always had first class service.

If you have been attempting to get the information this morning, as appears by your post time, you are aware that they are in Canada and the time difference is there? John

Thanks for all the responses.

That's the reason why I quoted the fact that I was using Mx Tools, and I ran the test from two IPs before posting, so I know that it has nothing to do with my computer(s)...

If you're very conversant with IT then you will know that internet connectivity can be flaky at times and for no apparent reason.

Many times I have visited websites and they seem not to be working but when I refresh the page or close and re-open my browsing session, they magically work again.

I just put it down to some glitch on the internet network rather than a problem at either the user or website end.

If still an issue then drop Pat a message. You'll usually get a pretty instant response. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

I first attempted to use the site at 06:00Z onwards and then later at 13:00Z, from two significantly geographically displaced IPs, which cannot be using the same infrastructure, so the problem was definitely not in the UK.
What I admittedly didn't try was to use one of my own off-shored cloud instances as the conduit.

Just got mine, and activated it no problem. Quite likely just a web-fart. Give it another go Smile
