I have bought a short OBD extension cable with 90’ angle connectors, partly to save ware on the car OBD, but also to move the iid to a more convenient place so that my foot doesn’t catch it when driving. The new cable holds the flap out of the way and I leave it plugged in permanently now.

Matt, yes I just plug the iid into the socket end of the new cable when needed. The cable tucks away out of sight and the socket end appears out of the tunnel trim so I can easily reach it whilst sat in the driving seat.

I bought a switched OBD extension lead from China.
Leaving it all pugged in and tucked away, with the switch in easy reach to flick it on and off when needed.

All concealed and nothing visible under the dash, have re-routed the the standard port.

. Cheers, Greg

I didn’t spot the switched version, but mine is very similar minus switch.
The socket to plug the iid into appears from behind the tunnel trim somewhere just near my left knee when driving.
The iid still works exactly as original.

Hi Matt, whilst very comprehensive, doesn't fix your issue at all.
They can't really say it's working as intended whilst still agreeing to do all the diagnosis...
What next?
. Cheers, Greg

Ok so due (probably) to an ill fitting intercooler to throttle body pipe, and me driving it too much I've filled up my DPF to a RED warning....

So for all reading, driving on Restricted Performance is not good for the DPF.
I did 15 mile and return journey last Sunday, checked soot when I set off and it was 14g.
Have not used the car since. Today fixed the leaking intake air pipe causing the Restricted Performance and started the engine to find her reading 27.5g of soot. That's a lot for 30-odd miles.

I should have taken the back up Toyota last Sunday dammit.
My own foolish fault.

Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Been making a plan and spoke to a mechanic guy I know and he said something that has my interest.

He said you could try telling the IIDTool you have fitted a new DPF. That you can def do. And it would/should clear the (new) Restricted. But then you'd need to regen it quick smart however you can't demand a Forced Regen using the IID.

What he did say was when you start driving the pressure differential reading would work out a regen was needed and it would self-demand a regen.

I am seriously considering trying that. Will have a think. Pros and cons in my mind.

I just wish Pat@GAP would allow us to do Forced Regen....

. Cheers, Greg

I am only just catching up Greg, after a busy weekend, but...
Obviously you need to force a regen somehow to get out of R.P.
The idea to tell the car it has a new DPF, then basically let it work out for itself that it needs to regen seems worth a try to me.
I am jetting off to Portugal for 4 weeks tomorrow, but will be looking out for any updates you post. Thumbs Up

Thanks Mike, a few updates from DPF central:

IIDTOOL
Pat came back about the Forced Regen and said (as he's been saying for several years) "working on it"
I still have the option of telling the car it's had a new DPF via the IID though

DA-Dongle DPFDR
I've ordered one of these https://www.diagnostic-associates.com/prod...ion-device

NEXAS ND602
Also ordered one of these a NEXAS ND602 OBD2 diagnostic instrument Car Tools for Land Rover Jaguar C8F5 - after they came back and confirmed it would work, with instructions on how to do it. They also had my VIN to triple check. This is a £100 device so quite inexpensive. They said:

Quote:
Morning Greg,
Nexas have told me that this is suitable.
Follow the software, firstly it will ask to clear the fault codes of DPF and its related systems, secondly, make sure the circumstances are met: 1, Pls make sure the engine does not have trouble codes or other phisical malfunctions, if has, pls repair it firstly;
2, Engine running at idle speed, and water temperature should be higher than 80 Celse Degree.
3, Coolant temperature is higher than 60"C Degree; Fuel temperature is lower than 70"C degree;

These two gadgets will be coming today or tomorrow so I'll post up updates. Any significant findings I'll also update into the main body at the top of this thread.

Have a great trip Mike! Cheers, Greg

Cheers Greg,
I think changing your EGR sensor is going to pay dividend now.

When I spent time discussing my DPF worries last year with my local independent R.R. expert he was insistant that the
PO 40...etc fault code prevented him from using his analyser from forcing a regen. even though it makes no noticeable difference to the cars ability to carry out both active and passive regens.
