Afternoon all on my way back down on thursday just wondered if there were any notable changes with regards to speed cameras- I did here that they were going to remove the warning signs that are about 400m before the camera just wondered if anything has changed in last few months

Still got the advance warning signs locally but I wouldn't depend on that completely. John

Warning signs still there AFAIK for the fixed cameras - but they still have mobile traps as the UK do.

I think I might still have the cameras on my sat nav - I must remember to delete them as they are not legal to use in France

Mind after the last trip I do factor a few hundred euros in just in case
Didn't realise they were illegal on the sat nav best watch that one as well

Actual location of speed cameras on GPS is illegal in France. However, you can have "Zones of Danger" which effectively cover the areas where there are speed cameras.

Most, if not all, GPS providers now have the option to show the zones.

A search of "Zones of danger France" throws up various hits of the different GPS devices. John

Nothing specific... I’m just careful for the”first and last bit” to from the ports as some days they have bash the Brits days.

I only know of one cam on my route to Normandy that doesn’t have a warning and I’m not sure that’s even a speed cam!

Waze is very very good.

Following your experiences I’m a lot better at sticking closer to speed limits than I used to be! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

We use the WAZE app on our mobiles, based on actual warnings from drivers. Works fine for us. Millions of French use it, so actually quite correct, I like it better as google maps.

If you can latch onto the derrière of a local on selective sprints (or otherwise cruise within limits) then it takes some of the mystery out of it. I saw surprisingly few cameras (Calais to St Tropez via the toll roads). This was back in June and no letters... so my derrière strategy must have worked.

Drove back yesterday and think I got off with it good tip about the last bit to the tunnel twice I have seen them there - I usually try to hit there during lunch time
Hope it was just a flash and not a fine Stan
Spoke to a couple of people when down there and they are checking mobiles to see if you have an app showing cameras interestingly

I also drove home yesterday

I have to say that I found staying close to the speed limit much more tiring.....
