I just think people need to look after them and they will keep their value

I think with the early ones they’re getting to the point now where they’re bottoming out price wise, the high mileage,unloved ones will all be getting scrapped as people skimp on doing expensive jobs making them uneconomical to keep on the road, the well cared for ones will start to slowly creep back up a bit, like what happened with the P38.
The trouble is it could take a while and as they made the L322 for quite a long time and there’s loss of them around I don’t know which ones will be desirable in the future, if I had to guess I’d say the 4.2 and 5.0 SCs will be more than the diesels given the anti diesel trend of the last few years.

Im still looking at a replacement for mine and the variation in trade in price against a £25k/£26k car is ridiculous. Best Ive been offered is £17k and worst is £13k.

Still can't decide what to do and I know one of the factors in that indecision, is that the L322 is such good car - it's been fun test driving C63s and RS6s though  Current: FF Westminster money pit

As usual, follow the money and what this reveals is interesting eg Tesla don't make their real money from selling cars, the profit is in flogging carbon tax offset credits to other car manufacturers - clever business and it is us the ordinary motorists who pay of course.

Got to be honest, I could afford a 2018 SVA but They look like a footballer's car, Nothing has come close the the L322 for actual Range Roverness.

Equally I feel the same if you buy an Evoque or Velar or Sport

I'm aware it's just me, and I'm sorry if its too divisive, but it's also why Tata/JLR is f****d.

If I was looking for a faceless 4x4 with a good engine and no history, it would be a Bentley or a Cayenne.

I was offered a G63 recently for silly low money and it's much better than a 405.

I'm sure the L322 values are plummeting.

I've got a 2011 5.0, a 2017 M4 competition pack, a 2015 RS5, a 1990 325i convertible and in the market for something American ideally old

The M4 is going soon to be replaced by something similar

On the "time to say TaTa to JLR" subject, late last year my inbox was rattled by various company promo messages that spoke glowingly about how the new Defender has no less than 85 computers on board, as if this is some wonderful thing.

I've worked in IT for longer than I care to remember and the thought of closed system, obscenely-priced-to-fix computer systems proliferating in any vehicle is a total put-off frankly, especially the "cloud based" aspects whereby JLR can connect remotely into any vehicle thus equipped to "update its software"

- Jeep owners have already learned that what this actually does is open up a world of pain from hackers and the whole premise here seems to be more of this "car as a service" business model whereby we don't actually really own any physical goods anymore.

Don't get me wrong, there is a role for tech, just that like most things in life there needs to be boundaries and balance, and this IMHO reached its peak in terms of what LR could deliver with the advent of the L322.

A project/concept I'm interested in developing is to look at retro-fitting the L322 with open source hardware and software eg building on the great work by AutoPi.io to eventually replace every ECU with alternative systems that are no longer locked into the manufacturers "value-add" pricing model - happy to talk more about this to anyone interested just PM me.

I'd imagine the earlier L322's wont ever bottom right out, due to their value in parts or as a cheap(ish) luxury car

ibb1 - coincidentally I have been looking at E63 estates over the last couple of days as well and they are not far off RS6 prices. I do fancy a V10 and Mrs Bradders prefers the E63 to the C63 so you never know  Current: FF Westminster money pit

I like both Mercedes and Audis in general but think if it was a case of a V10 RS6 or a V8 bi turbo E63 I’d pick the Merc, not that I don’t like the V10 RS6 I think it’s an awesome piece of kit, however I’ve heard some rather costly horror stories which I haven’t heard about the Mercs, good luck in your search whatever you decide on though .

Unfortunately I don’t see a car like that in my future again any time soon, I did something silly and had a go in a Model S a few months ago and definitely am one of the converted/got the bug!, hopefully want a used Model 3 performance in 2 or 3 years when they’re a bit more affordable!, it doesn’t mean I don’t still love a big noisy V8 or V10 though.
