Avin 4 install in 2003

Seeing as we lost all the pictures from Hylands excellent post, I did my own set and put them in a PDF for all to enjoy when I fitted the Avin 4 to my Range.

Not sure how to share a PDF, perhaps a mod could help ? Dont fancy posting all the individual pictures again

Unit fitted perfectly ( had to cut a portion from the existing carrier ) and looks factory. Works brilliantly, really quick and having the ibus app and dongle I have full DSP and OBC.

Quick video here

Been running about 6 weeks now and havent found any issues, took a while to get it tweaked just right with sound levels etc
but overall, brilliant piece of kit. No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue

To upload a pdf go into the gallery and your gallery, you can upload it there, then grab the link and make a post .

Unplug the quad lock from the BM54, plug new loom into quadlock. Done ! really simple- All speakers working including sub as you are not by-passing the DSP amp No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue

I have bought the Avin Avant 4 and have had the installation done at a car stereo shop....

We are not out of the woods yet...

The german team at Ibus app.de have confirmed that the car serial number (VIN) is known to them and it is unlocked.

Somehow I think that the Usb for the Ibus app was not wired properly.

Anybody out there who can indicate if my assumption is right - or can be tested before we dismantle the dash again ?

More bad news: no DAB+ either....

The good news. Bluetooth streaming, phone via bluetooth, steering wheel controls, even video and music over Usb, all of this is perfect Smile Mark Offringa

Hi, all new here! Just ordered Avin Avant 4 for my 2003 L322 and found REwmer's guide, excellent write up. Although, I wonder if you pull the extension cable to the left in LHD cars as well?
And MarkNL, did you get your installation to work in the end?

Installed my unit this weekend. Pro tip: unpin the Quadlock connector when pulling the cable up to the head unit, it's just way to big to fit.

The extension lead is slightly better now compared to the one in the guide. IBUS connector is already in the harness and there are no dodgy adaptors.

Sorry for the half year delay in updates.... but its done ... and it works !!

The whole kit had to come out again - but its worth the effort.

Only at the last moment before mounting the dash again we found out - just like is mentioned above - that there is now a Ibus connector in the harness, So no need anymore for the soldering operartion (of course we discovered this AFTER soldering haha) Mark Offringa

Hi Rewmer, any chance you have a photo of the rear of the head unit & connections in the back of the car please. I am having issues with no sound although everything else works.

Thanks, Adam

Hi Adam

Have you discovered the DSP on/off button in the I-bus screen ?

Position of this button is a bit surprising... but without DSP on you dont get sound. Mark Offringa

Hi Mark, I also had a question that Avin are still to answer. When I connect the extension cable to the main harness from the DSP amplifier, do I connect anything to the exposed port on the amplifier itself? Your help would be greatly appreciated, than you, Adam
