I have changed mine in both our sealed keys, VL2330 soldered in place easy exchange Thumbs Up

I resealed mine with some gasket sealant, and they have been swimming since without issue.

Dan,

Look at Stan's answer carefully:-

Horseshoe key he said 'yes' you can change the battery -- it's not rechargeable

Flip key he said 'no', you can't change the battery it is rechargeable

Really difficult to split the key (if original) without breaking it (I've never managed it) but possible to solder a new rechargeable battery and put the board, chip, and blade in a new shell.

If you need some bits PM me

I found putting the case in a soft jawed vice applied enough pressure to pop open the case on ours, prior I had tried all sorts and they simply wouldn't go!

When we purchased the car, one of the keys had been flat a very long time and even after a battery swop didn't function, we had to reprogram using SDD. Not sure if that was the battery going flat, or something else the key was in almost brand new condition.

I misplaced one of my 2008 L322 keys for about a year, now it won’t remotely unlock the doors. But I can use the key blade to unlock the door, which sets off the car alarm. Putting the same key into the ignition kills the alarm and starts the car no problem.

Do I have a flat key battery? Thanks. ______________________________

Have you tried the key recode procedure if you search the forum you will find it sorry not sure off hand.

It may just need to be used to charge it or the rechargeable cell may be dead. If you have a soldering iron for about £10 you get a new case and cell and it’s good as new Current stable:

Thanks for the reply.

I have done key recoding a new key with the IID tool (key I bought via forum, now gathering dust as couldn’t be coded even by Indy), but something went wrong and decoded all keys (I blame user error).

While IID tool help desk were exceptional at helping me fix the problem, and recoding all old keys, I’m not keen to do it again unless that’s definitely a fix. ______________________________
