It's a Denso we fitted to ours too.

Interestingly, it was a Denso one that was removed too and which was fitted as a genuine part by LR.

Update, its a runner, new battery, bit of fiddling about, erase all codes and it fired into life, seemed it had just been stood and low battery had caused issues, possibly even to the starter as even that needed a tap to get going, after running up to temp and going for a run it seems a good old thing, few oil leaks etc so decided i will continue with the initial plan to pull the engine and replace a fee things to future proof it a bit, list so far is:

2 new turbos
Upgraded drain pipe
New egr
New oil cooler
Renew any dodgey looking coolant hoses
Water pump
Anti freeze
Polly belts/tensioners
Rear main seal and any other seals/gaskets where needed
Gearbox service kit
Anything we find along the way and a major service using all genuine parts

Another thing weve noticed is the fan howling a bit so need to investigate that along with seized side steps

Will update as we go along.

Yes its a result, i dont mind going to town on it now as the engine being good gives me more budget

Ive had a good deal on the turbos so ive gone for it for peace of mind, plus i should pull some money back on the old ones.

Engines out and my friend has just called me to say he will cancel the upgraded drain pipe as its already got one, so id say this car has been fairly well looked after.

The spend is quickly mounting up

New battery
2x turbos
Genuine EGR
Genuine water pump
Genuine belts and tensioner
Oil cooler seals
Rear main seal
8 heater plugs
Gearbox kit
Genuine filters, anti freeze, oil

Im sure the list will grow as we get deeper into investigating everything.

I can't spot any difference to the one in the TSB, other than the label on yours.

Thats what i thought, just surprised to see prototype on it, im happy to find that its already on it and appears to have been there a long time, also found out today it has very recently had a new cooling fan.

My friend works at a garage at a garage in balsall common/coventry, thats where its being done, they do lots of JLR engine work, the place is called Lavender Hall Autos.

I tell you what mister AB-Black it's a bold move to take out an engine when you don't really need to; just for good measure. This is no MGB. But it's obviously a keeper. I reckon if I had a ramp I'd do the same.
