In all honesty thats like peeing in the sea to raise the water level. Solar is a million miles away from being close to do any meaningful charging whilst onboard a car. BMW i3 Electric Car (170 bhp mobility scooter)

No I dont BB was talking about household solar panels - "The “smart” solution should include investment in developing more efficient solar panels and fitting them instead of sunroofs on all hybrid/ electric cars to help trickle charge the batteries." Hence my comment.

that said, if one can use Solar panels at home or use an electricity provider that uses solar fields to charge his/her car and household electricity storage, then it's a win-win - here's a major evolution in the energy production world:
