A nyloc nut is meant to be single use even though many people, including myself, re-use them.

Wonder how easy it would be to simply knock out the nuts and bolts and swap for new every 10k…. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I had a tube of this on the boat, it is excellent and does what it says, it would certainly prevent the problems on this thread, as I said some pages ago, just add this joint to your service schedule and the arm should outlive the car....

Is the corrosion that's occurring on the ball joint rather than the bolt? If so, replacing the bolts wont help and in fact it doesn't look like the bolts are failing?

I have not seen any white corrosion on the bolt that secures the top balljoint or in the hole where the top balljoint bolt goes or on the surface of the balljoint, the only build up of the white substance corrosion is on the surface of the hole in the top of knuckle where the top arm balljoint goes.
It might be nothing to do with corrosion it could be there was not enough aluminium knuckle around the top balljoint on the origional knuckles, hopefully there will be an official answer to that question one day .

I assume that the white corrosion is aluminium oxide. It's interesting that this is only impacting 2015 vehicles in the VIN range 195780 - 228236, as per the Russian video, despite the profile of the knuckle (small head) on earlier 2013-2014 vehicles appearing to be the same

The only thing I can think of is that there was change to the composition of the aluminium alloy which has been traced back to VIN range 195780 - 228236. Kev

Morning kev
That link takes you to a log in page in Russian.
My update with the case is that Land Rover want nothing to do with me and don't seem to care that they have thousands of vehicles on the road with these knuckles on but the DVSA are taking it a lot more serious as i have a guy coming from the Vehicle safety Branch of the Driving and vehicle Standards Agency tomorrow to collect both the front knuckles from my car so they will be able to see the broken one and the one that has not failed.
Hopefully at some point this topic will be made public and will reach people ouside of Range Rover forums as it could save serious injuries as the vehicles with affected knuckles get older but it seems it will take a failure of the knuckle at higher speed before Land Rover want to take notice as so far all the cases that we know of seem to be at low speed or they have been found before they have failed.

Yeah, you need to sign in too see the thread Jon. If you use Google Chrome, it will auto translate the Russian. I have a look on that forum every now and again and the post caught my eye.

It's a real shame that LR are not recognising this as a serious safety issue that requires resolution. I'm not surprised however. Will it take death for them to admit there is a serious safety concern here?

I hope DVSA really press on them hard and thanks to you for persevering and raising the issue. Kev

Update:

Got a call from JLR this morning and they (at the moment) taking my complaint seriously and say they want to look into it with a view to helping me.

Lets see what happens. DVSA has also responded and will be contact again soon.

I went throught the procedure with DVSA and they collected the knuckles from both sides damaged and undamaged for testing but nothing from them yet, i refused to drive it without the other side being repaced as i got away with the first faliure and it was not going to get another chance of getting me at full speed as the first one was at about 5 mph, i have twice been told by JLR Customer Experience Centre that they can't cover the cost of my repair as it was not done at one of there franchises but it could not be done at there franchise as there was no space when the AA man called colchester Land Rover to book it in which was not a surprice as they had refused him taking a 2 month old L405 the day before due to workload. On JLR Customer Experience Centr 2nd refusal to cover the cost of repair which was 2 days ago i advised them as of the time and date of my email i was advising them that there was a safety issue with the knuckle at the point at which the top balljoint was clamped on all 2015 Range Rover L405 and i was then told its been raised within the Jaguar Land Rover Customer Solutions Team and a Solutions Executive will contact me in order to discuss further within 72 working hours but i have not heard anything yet and it does give them untill 14.06 15/11/2021, i would be very interested to hear how you get on as the person that started this topic was also refused and yours sounds the most positive yet .

Do not hesitate, go straight to VOSA with this. They will investigate and if its common force JLR to do a recall. That might well save someones life.
I've used them on a continental brand and they took it seriously. They were very helpful. Just do it! Rehab is for quitters!!!
