L322 2007 Android Headunit Options

So... I have searched the forums, and found quite a few posts, most a few years old now, with no real answers to what im looking for. So my apologies if its, yet another android headunit thread Laughing

So... What are people using? And any cons of each option?
I dont mind losing the 4x4 info screen, as long as steering control still works really.

I also didnt realise (some?) BMW headunits will work too? (is this all just plug and play, or rewiring required?

So far from searching the forums/google, it looks like:
https://www.erisin.com/products/erisin-es8...dvr-canbus

https://www.iceboxauto.com/rangerover-vogu...play-rr011

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ZWNAV-Replacement...S78J4?th=1

https://www.canavie.com/1025-android-car-s...37195.html

The prices seem all over the place too - So if anybody has experience with the above, including fitting - It would be great to hear your guys advice.

Not heard of any of the above, but have recently successfully installed a navtool unit into my 2007. Not technically an android headunit, but gives android auto which is what I was after, and retains all of the factory functionality.

Ah that was potentially another option - Is that from https://www.navtool.com/ ?

I dont find the existing touchscreen in the car, super-responsive at the moment, so i think it would just be frustrating that taps/swipes wouldnt recognise sometimes.

The navtool sites not loading for me at the moment, how much are they?

Yeah that's the one... website does appear to be a little bit broken at the moment. Doh!

I paid $381 delivered for a version 5 unit - they were on clearance. The only difference I've seen with the navtool 6 is the 5 doesn't have the wireless connectivity. That's what pushed me into buying really - I only use it on long journeys so plugging in makes no difference to me - I've routed the USB cable up into the arm rest cubby.

From memory, the full price of the version 6 was something like $550 delivered, but don't take that as gospel.

Fitting was very much plug and play.

Seems like a good way for screen mirroring, or adding extra HDMI inputs on to the main screen.

I just cant imagine the touchscreen being a good experience, its already a little unresponsive at times.

I think ill most likely go with the Erisin unit, seems a bargain (https://www.erisin.com/products/erisin-es8153b-1025-android-100-car-stereo-for-bmw-e53-e39-m5-carplay-auto-gps-tpms-dab-dsp-dvr-canbus)

Look like @danwilderspin here has had a positive experience with it too: (https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic54042.html?highlight=erisin&start=30)

Yeah, if you've got issues with the OEM touchscreen, a replacement device is much more logical

So, i went with the IceBox unit in the end https://www.iceboxauto.com/rangerover-vogu...play-rr011

Bit of a pain to install, but just about managed it - However i have a couple of new issue's, and would be great to get some advice, (most likely relating to disconnecting battery i presume).

- Unable to lock/unlock car with key anymore
- Top/Bottom glove compartments no longer open
- Steering wheel position isnt raising for easy entry anymore
- Now getting a Suspension Fault notice (All seems to actually work correctly though)

Is something not connected? Or do i just need to clear any error codes? Disconnect battery for a short while?

Did you fix any of the new problems?

All you need to do is clear all the new soft codes.
most scanners will do this for you.

I cleared the codes, but it didn't immediately get rid of some faults

However, most of the issues fixed themselves after a while of driving around.

Glove compartment is still not unlocking, however it turned out I blew a fuse. So I think the glove compartment switch needs replacing.

Suspension fault came back today, however... I'm sure the new headunit is draining the battery while it's off.

So just.a few things to keep an eye on really, but all is now we'll 😁

Is the little Red light on console in front of hill decent switch turning off after about 10-15 min?
Suspension fault (air suspension inactive);have you checked for leaks on all 4 corners and the valve blocks, I have this problem at the moment, every 2nd day i get the (ASI) readout on dash. My fix is reseal air tank valve block!

I'm sure you should be able to adjust the glove compartment latch, just needing a little tweak.

So how do you find the new headunit ?

I've got this unit, its sat in living room waiting for my time off. Any hints on fitting? I've looked at instructions and was assured that its all plug and play without pulling cables through the car, obviously the instructions are in broken English/asian which doesn't help

I was super tempted with the Erisin unit, but its slightly curved isnt it?

The icebox one fits perfectly, and no regrets (so far) Very Happy

@googs - Is suspension fault, Air Suspension Inactive 2 different warnings? Ive only had "Suspension Fault", all be it, everything is working fine. (It disappears on its own after a few days).

@Fozziebeard - The instructions Icebox supplied were really lacking. I found another long post on another forum which i found really helpful for the order of which panels should be taken off etc: https://www.rangerovers.net/threads/removi...al.342997/

That’s interesting that wasn’t around when I started - he claims you lose no functionality can you set he time and date on the dash and the clock?
