Hi,

Yes, I should have done that at the time so I don't have any pictures so I'll try to put into words.

The leading edge of the roof, ( in fact the full length is but I was only interested in the front section) is held on by 2 of these clips, 1 on each side.

But you cannot access the screw that secures it except from below, behind the headliner. If you can visualise the screw going upward from within the car, through the roof and securing the clip in place outside the car.

So I prized off the leading edge piece from the rest of the trim, it's about 6" long, and using a twisting motion seprated it from the rest of the trim that runs the full length of the roof. Removed the broken remains of the broken white clip from the trim piece and also the circular centre which was itself still stuck to the screw on the roof section, the little wiggly bits had sheared off.

I popped off the broken clips (take care to note the orientation as they can go one of 4 ways) and carefully put the replacements into the trim, refitted the front 6" trim to the main trim (very fiddly, push twist, push twist other way etc. etc.), then by carefully trying to line up the round center of the clip with the now exposed screw head pushed the trim piece lower it down and once in place press quite firmly but not so hard as to push the screw back through the roof.

Luckily it popped on both sides without too much effort very close to flush.

If I had the time it would have been better to drop the headlining and tighten the screws fully from the inside again but it's quite secure with no movement so I didn't bother.

Clips, £7 each I bought a few as I expected to break some, but in the end only broke 1.

3 months now after pulling the fuse for auto wipers, no problems at all, much less frustrated and change has proved uber reliable using adjustable intermittant wipersI just drive with lights on all the time "Auto", they still turn off with the ignition, so all good.

Pressure washed all the fresh oil off the under belly, will get around to trying to resolve that as soon as the O rings turn up, thanks Ajmngn for the tip.

Germany 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Came back from Switzerland (Haute Nendaz) yesterday after a week of skiing.
Was about 1000 Mile round trip and the Fatty performed very well!
The new front brakes are well bedded in and work well. (Bosch discs and pads)

One thing I did notice was that when setting off home bound the temperature gauge fluctuated a little between 1/4 to 1/2 way on the scale so I'm thinking my thermostat plus housing needs renewal but we'll see how it goes.

Didn't get any snow under the new Pirellis but they did save on fuel !

Pictures to follow once I figured out some hosting for them.

Replaced the two BS611 oil rings due to leak this morning, old ones were hard and crusty, 1 broke removing it, hopefully all good now.

Off to Tewkesbury Rugby later so will see if any dripping on my return, Fuji White 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westmiinster

Differentials and transfer box oil change

Hello to all.
Finally got all the materials to do the front and rear differentials as well as the transfer box oil change.
Land Rover dealership in the south France are totally ridiculous with their pricing.

Anyway, was waiting for the 500cl syringe and 14mm allen key needed for the front diff to get started.

Since "The Beast" just reached 145000Km (90K miles?) was definitely time to get fresh oil in her.

Was surprised how straight forward and rewarding (fun) the job was. Hardest part was raising the beast enough to slide under to reach the diffs and transfer box. RR HSE TDV8 4.4 2012

Replaced rear anti roll bar rubbers, took the opportunity to mist spray entire rear subrame & chassis with Nitomors & then Dintrol.

Working my way around the car front subframe area yesterday. sills & arches when weather improves.

Found some paint bubbling under the rear tailgate lid, not too bad so I think I will try some stuff to hold it at bay for a couple of years. Had a good look at the wheel arches when I found it, but they look ok
I think with a bit of treatment the tailgate should last as long as I plan to keep the car.

Changed the ARB bushes, easy job on the drive with some 3t vehicle ramps. The old ones were fitted by the dealer 18months or 10k miles ago. They didn't look worn but the ARB was fairly easy to move, and once the brackets were off the sub frame they were definitely loose. I used genuine bushes with a receipt from the dealer so that if the ARB seals go they can't say it is due to me using non-genuine parts. I'd be interested to hear what aftermarket bushes others use.
