Fitting a new battery tomorrow, does it need coding in ?

Hi, just bought a new battery and I’m making sure it’s fully charged using a ctek overnight.

When I fit it, does it need coding in ?

I don’t have a tool to do that so curious if I need one.

I swapped the battery in my 2007 tdv8 without doing anything special or clever, without any problems.

Thanks, I should have mentioned, mine is a 2009 digital dash car.

Not sure if that makes a difference

I think the answer is that’s it’s preferable to tell the car it’s got a new battery, but isn’t essential and the car will learn over a short period of time.

Thanks,

I am fitting a new battery primarily to fix the random and erratic errors like no forward alert available, and such like.

The old one was completely discharged 3 years ago, but I’ve soldiered on with it.

As the errors have started to reappear more frequently, I reckon a new agm battery is a simple way to eliminate that as a factor before a service next week.

More important with AGM batteries from 2010 onwards

Less so with the lead-acid types from 2009 and before
