I swapped the battery in my 2007 tdv8 without doing anything special or clever, without any problems.

I think the answer is that’s it’s preferable to tell the car it’s got a new battery, but isn’t essential and the car will learn over a short period of time. |

I fitted a new battery for the same reason I'm still getting the random erratic errors |

I changed my battery last week and didn't do anything to code it to the car (60 plate 4.4TDV8).All working fine. Btw if you can convince Halfords that you should have a trade card you can get a decent discount off batteries. mine was £103 instead of £158
