JLR have requested the broken one. They probably just want to check the serial numbers, who knows..

I contacted my local dealer and asked about the recall for this.

They said my car had no recalls outstanding. It was first registered on 1 March 2013.

Does that mean it has had it done or is there a very specific range of VINs?

I would be checking myself, as if it does fail, your dealer will absolve themself of any responsibility and you are then left with having to sort it out.

I wouldn't want to be relying on the fact your dealer said it was ok. Lots of examples of cars outside VIN range that have had issues, so unless your a very brave man, I would add it to your check list.

Better to be safe than sorry. Easy to check. Results if it does fail can be pretty scary.

PLEASE would you also record a serious safety defect with the DVSA to get more pressure on JLR to extend the recall range as cars like yours clearly have the same issue.

Got both sides on my 2016 outside of vin range replaced without any argument, even got a new o/s driveshaft when they destroyed it removing the knuckle.

On the flipside, other 2016 owners out of vin range have been given a flat no by JLR, not sure what the deciding factors are. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Would love to know what pressure can be applied to JLR - I've a 09/15 registered MY2016 and Duckworth have just confirmed its not subject to a recall for this - VIN ends GA253xxx - which I thought was within range.

Car is currently stranded at OFG Lincoln Ltd who are quoting just shy of £2200 to replace both sides (both are cracked).

Any suggestions = suspect I'll still have to pay upfront, but would love to be able to secure a recovery of my costs!

This just came up randomly in my FB feed. Someone with a 405 compared failed one to replacement and said new one is cast thicker….
