Yh definitely they look fun to come out lol. I think (hoping) it’s only 2 cylinders it’s affected but going to take them all out and check

Should just pull out without needing a removal tool, mine were a doddle at 160k miles. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Got all 8 injectors…number had some oil but enough when I turned the crank it shot out and number 3 had a little bit. Number had just about as well but 8 was the worst. The crank is free but I was going to remove the fuse for the fuel and get the starter motor move some more out but have no clue what fuse number it is. Any one know?

Any other ideas on how to remove the little bits of oil as well?

Also the clip has the rubber grommet on it doesn’t look great. If that wasn’t the cause of the oil escaping where else can it come from??

I'd say the only other source for that amount of oil would be either of the turbos, maybe worth disconnetcing the intercooler hoses as close to the turbos as possible and spinning it over without the injectors in and see if you have any oil appearing from either of them.

Did you check the air filters for oil? L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

The saga continues checked the air filters are clean no oil only was in the last injectors. I don’t think it was the turbos I had a look at the bung in the oil filter housing and an see oil gone down that small air hole so I’m thinking that’s where the oil came down butttt now another problem tried the starter motor and guess what it’s just clicks so going to take that out…Christ knows why that’s gone but now it just clicks. Working fine before. Can this get any worst!

I had oil misbehaving after my rebuilt engine was started. It was coming out of the exhaust owing to a bung at the bottom of the turbo core being left in by my mechanic. I located the issue simply by parting the exhaust flange nearest both of the turbos by about 15mm, running the engine and saw oil coming out of the left hand one. It's about a 30 minute job - could be a quick way to eliminate the turbo cores as being the oil source?

Right I’m back thanks kiwi rr it’s similar but found my problem.

So cleared the oil out from the bores put it all back fresh oil 9 litres of it. Found my mega blow fuse blown so had to replace that as well. Cranking and started. But I thought I’m gonna disconnected both turbos pipes clear the intercooler and hoses and then found the drivers side turbo (secondary turbo I think) Censored oil out for fun when running. So question is now why did it fail so going going to check the dpf limit and then 2nd how to replace the bloody thing??? Any replaced it when engine in place?

Drivers side is the primary turbo I seem to remember. I'd be having words with the supplier if they were remanufactured!!

Not a nice job in situ, but it can be done, fortunately I've never had to!!

Sounds like you hopefully caught it before any major damage was done. I'd certainly be less than impressed with the turbo supplier, surely some financial assistance is in order?

Keep us posted. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Yes definitely gonna be ringing them tomorrow.

I’m not looking forward to it as it was a bit of a pain when outside can only imagine the cuts I’m gonna get.

My worry is could the dpf be blocked but have just checked and it’s level is DIESEL PARTICULARE FILTER REMAINING VOLUME 0L

And dpf soot concentration 20 g/m3
Which I think is clean???

Can only think it’s a bad turbo??

I'm about to work with my mechanic on replacing both turbos with aftermarket units. Service manual says it can be done although at one point requires lifting the engine up while it is still attached to its mounts. Will be doing it in the next week so happy to post progress if you've not already cracked into it. If it were me I think I would do engine out but my skills with nuts and bolts are no where near my mechanic. I do also remember that you have to take out the fans, the alternator and starter motor before you can get to the RHS turbo - first two can be a bit of a mission from memory.

I think for posting pictures you just click the choose photos button under the text entry when replying and select from a folder on you computer?
