Just for the avoidance of doubt, the most critical thing when setting the fluid level is that the engine is ticking over while the level is being set. If the engine is turned off, the fluid in the tor ...

The rear stator bush seals the hydraulic feed circuit to the E-clutch so only affects 4th, 5th and 6th gears.

If the clutches in the transmission were slipping you would expect the speed sensors to ...

I’m in the UK and have first-hand experience of using JPAT and Sussex Autos. If I recommended anyone in the States to remanufacture your torque converter it would just be the result of an internet s ...

I know! Who would guess that the starter motor needed a breather? It’s in good company, though, with the pipes for the front diff. breather, the transmission breather and the transfer box breather, ...

Yes, clearly a new converter is the best option, but I’ve also had very good results over the years from re-manufactured units, provided that the re-manufacturer has a lot of experience working on t ...

What does this spell for me?
It means you’ve put a band-aid on the problem i.e. you’ve treated the symptom and not the cause. Your torque converter is in need of a replacement lock-up clutch fric ...

If it does mask the issue, are we looking at a new TC? Perhaps the Gearbox itself is OK?
Yes, hopefully it's just a worn lock-up clutch and you can have the converter re-manufactured and there will b ...

The torque converter lock-up clutch is in its controlled slip mode in 4th gear during your light throttle run (to prevent the transmission of torsional vibration due to the low engine speed) and shoul ...

The most critical factor is that the engine must be ticking over while the level is set, otherwise the fluid in the torque converter drains down into the sump and produces an artificially high fluid l ...

Transmission issues when cold, which disappear once warmed up, often relate to a low fluid level. Might be worth checking? You have the GM 5L40-E transmission, which uses Dexron fluid.

Very strange. Considering the judder is so apparent, you would really expect to be able to see it in your three ‘judder’ runs, but it just isn’t there. You generally see a 1Hz oscillation of aro ...

Although I need to look in more detail at the data for the 3 ‘judder’ runs (nothing particularly jumps out at me), I wondered if you noticed - i.e. could hear or feel - the engine speed cycling du ...

Is it possible to post up the actual pdf files containing the captured measurements? Unfortunately the IIDTool doesn't line up the axes accurately enough to be able to analyse the graphs.
