best way is to undo the bolt which holds the 2 pieces and then you're left with a 2'' square hole..... ... - .- -.

If it's the detachable towbar then you're best keeping it in the boot when not in use. Mine came with a broken key in the lock so I just removed it myself using rudimentary tools in not very long at all. Shame I can't get a replacement lock ...

I have a similar issue with the key snapped off in the towbar lock. I removed the bolt (green arrow) and applied moderate force to try and extract the towbar assembly from the square receiver as Stan mentioned.

Can some one confirm please that with the towbar "locked on" I should be able to remove the assembly this way? .. or is there a knack?

I've read on here the WD40/Penetrating fluid and hammer technique works or,

Low range, 1st, tied with some strong material to a substantial tree, with the mrs or such like at the helm while you tap it with a hammer it should just drop out as the car goes forward, or bounce back toward the tree a little Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

When you put the receiver into the square hole give the square hole and the receiver a thick coating of grease before inserting.
It doesn't stick then. Idea
Doesn't help getting a stuck one out though. Laughing
