so 3 easy steps

1) buy paddles from TLO (disco3)
2) buy MSV2+ from BBS
3) plug in paddles
4) enable paddle shift in CCF
5) et voila! enjoy

hi Colin, just wanted to ask a few questions,

the gate way module thats needed for the ibus to talk with the can bus needs reprogramming, does it have to be a new unit or can a used one work.
do you need any thing more in order to fit the module in to the system
has the module got to be programmed in the car.
i think i have now found one, he wants good money and have been thinking it may be better to add the rest and go for a new one.
thanks dave V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

if he has said he has edited his CCF file he must have a post 05 (touch screen model) as pre 05 vehicles didnt have CCF files, thats the whole point of the gateway module.

@BBS - if we fitted a gateway module into our pre touch screen range rovers without the rest of touch screen infotainment system could we install the paddles?

Matt

yes it is a 2010 5.0 s/c

the paddles are the same as the 2011 4.4 TDV8 - they are in integral part of the steering wheel, and can be retrofitted to the 2010 steering wheel by simply snapping out the rear of the top panel.

I tried to take pics but its dark and all you see are the lights of the dashboard. i will take pics tomorrow in the sunlight

matt if you use the gate way module you can start to use things like the venture cam, it allows our cars to talk to the canbus.. Rolling Eyes he just said his car is a 2010.
i thought the same the gate way was for the pre touch screen.

so is this mod for the pre touch screen or for the later models V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

hi dave, the gateway module was only used in a very limited run of vehicles from when they fitted the first touch screen system until they redesigned the interior, from then on they combined the gateway module into the instrument cluster. If you do fit a gateway module, how will you be able to use the venture cam? you need the touch screen infotainment system for venture cam to work as the BMW infotainment system does not support venture cam.

hi matt your right, they only fitted them to the 2005 cars that had the first touch screens and as they started updating the electrics, they are very hard to find... i have had several conversation with bbs spy who prompted me to the gate way module after me telling him i wanted to use the venture cam, also he was working on a module that would allow you to use the 2010 switches on the i bus system.. he is very technical and i have to read his post a few times before it goes in... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Congratulations Baben

You may have well discovered the 4x4 info enabling, by simple CCF editing, equivalent for the 2010 on FFRR Thumbs Up

As you know, i was concerned that you might need to re flash your other ECU's as well, because your ECU's might not automatically support Paddle shifting, especially since this was not a manufacturer option on your model.

But it seems they do and i thank you for being the Guinea Pig that discovered this Wink

Powerful stuff this CCF editing, and pretty stunning to think no one had even heard of it until i first mentioned it. Rolling with laughter

Matt and Dave

This mod has no applicability to anything pre 2010

For clarification, i have two separate and un related projects currently on hold.

The first is the fitment of 05 to 09 infotainment equipment to pre 05 FFRR vehicles which uses the Gateway ECU fitted only in 05 Vehicles

The second is the fitment to a Discovery 3 or pre 2010 Sport with the steering wheel fitted to Disco 4 or 2010 on sport models, including paddle shift capability.
This second project may well migrate into providing any pre 2010 FFRR owner with the ability to fit a 2010 steering wheel to their vehicle, including paddle shift capability.
But i really can't make any promises Whistle 2003 4.4 HSE

some video evidence

apologies about the quality, iphone 3 doesn't exactly make it as a broadcast tool

&feature=youtube_gdata_player

but you can hopefully make out the "supercharged" label on the tachometer, and the D2, D3 etc gear annunciator underneath, and see the paddles changing gears

So at the moment the only solution for pre 2010 owners is to do what Matt did. Using radio controls in the wheel to control the gear changing. Shame it needs a bit of soldering and modding, but does not look too complicated.
