Yours has changed being newer. A bit like missing grams label, seems it's gone.

Germany 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

Hello Everyone,

So far the DPF sign stayed off.
But... I have a sneaking suspicion my DPF is not clean enough after a regeneration.
Before I had a 2008 3.6 and with the 4.4 I have never been able to get lower fuel consumption than with the 3.6
And I usually drive like a grandma Sheep , on my daily commute it hardly ever reaches 2k rpm.
Even on longer runs to The Motherland (The Netherlands Thumbs Up ) it's impossible to get decent numbers.
That said: I've not seen a sensor readout / soot level after a regeneration so it's nothing but a hunch Embarassed

Today I found a company in Germany that is able to cut & clean on site.
Euro 600, bring at 0830, pickup at 1700.

About the refitting:
Is there an official LR part to refit the DPF?
Those highlighted clamps & sleeves shown on page 1.
Or are they generic exhaust parts that every exhaust shop has plenty of?

And one not DPF related question (if I may)
What Android tablet would you guys recommend to buy for the IID?
Because I have a Windows phone.

Smile

Hi, Guys, I am getting the yellow triangle DPF full 4 times in 4 weeks I have done a lot of towing with the tintent and only get it after sitting in traffic, I think it could be the DPF regen sensor I have cleaned the MAPT sensor I am hoping it`s not a clean up job on the exhaust DPF< Do you think I am on the right lines?

Tinman,
It’s all guess work if you can’t monitor the soot mass.
We do know for certain that the amber warning is triggered at 23.5g and that you really need to get it on a good road/ motorway at a steady speed 50mph+ , making sure you have got a minimum of 1/3rd tank full of diesel. and a minimum of 20 minutes/ half an hour.
It should then perform a good Active regen, which would bring the soot mass down into low single figures.

Spitfire S,
Again without you monitoring the soot mass it is difficult to comment, but I haven’t seen any evidence linking poor MPG figures to DPF problems..

As for the DPF repair clamps , ask Dan.
The exhaust pipes are stainless steel, so I guess the repair clamps should also be stainless steel.

SpitfireS I think any cleaning on-site won't be as good as if you go somewhere.
They will have a bigger, better powered machine (e.g. 3-phase) in a workshop.
Anything mobile won't be as good.

But do plenty of research.
There are also companies that charge a lot for not much.

And I think the one you are thinking is very expensive;
Mine cost £250 GBP (and included clamps)
See Page 1 if you haven't already.

. Cheers, Greg

gonna_go_double_r - With 'on site' I meant their workshop.
I have to drive there and they cut it out, clean it and refit it.
They also clean DPF's that are send to them but in an e-mail reply they agreed that shipping the RR DPF and part of the exhaust would be very expensive so they offered their workshop service.
Yeah, I guess Euro 600 for this is a bit steep, the prices I've seen in Germany for just cleaning (you have to remove and install yourself and ship it to them) are around Euro 388.
Germany in Diesel Country, every Heinz, Hansel and Gretel is driving a diesel so I guess there's plenty of price competition.

Baltic Blue - Extra fuel is used to boost the temerature for regeneration, right?
So I figured if my DPF is never really clean it's regenerating more often = more fuel.
And I did have the red warning and the car has 135000km now.
Oh well...

Hi, GGD,
from what I have read is that if I change the regen sensor in the manifold I may not have to clean the DPF in the exhaust,

If that proves that I still get the same fault the DPF is blocked then it's off to the cleaners, But if I get the DPF cleaned I could
still, need the sensor changed?

Can you let me know how you used in London?

Cheers

Changing the manifold sensor for me didn't do anything other than removing the error code.

Have you checked your donut hoses? That's the intake circular plenum which sits atop of your engine. There are four flexi hoses that feed into it and these can crack and I remember one member was towing in France and had a lot of trouble. But he was getting Restricted Performance and DPF yellow then red. I'd remove and carefully check all four hoses for cracks. You might need to stretch them to properly check for cracks. It might not be this but it'll cost you nothing but an hour.

See page one for the details of who I used.

Before you do that, suggest you invest in an IIDTool because, as Mike said I think earlier you really need to see what's happening both from a grams soot level and also that regens are happening properly.

Have you taken it for a steady 50mph drive without the caravan?

And are you getting the yellows only when towing?

Greg Cheers, Greg
