Just a few further points to add to my previous post.

My previous LR independent garage was adamant that it is not possible to do a forced regen when the PO 40 ..etc
EGR fault is showing.

I have now proved him to be wrong… it works perfectly despite the faulty EGR sensor.

Dimitar has also shown that we no longer have to fear getting DPF warnings, even RED ones.

This whole area is quite laden with rumours and hearsay. Well-intended mostly.

But now finally there is an easy fix to a bind many of us have been in.

I've been using the separate plug in tool DA-DPF Dongle to do what can now be done on the IID which is a great resolution to this thread I started more than three years ago.

DPFs are great but are an operational blight on the wonderful 4.4TDV8 engine. So it's wonderful Pat has sorted it.
Monitor your soot levels every few weeks people.

And happy regenerating.

. Cheers, Greg

Greg,
I will still check my soot level every few weeks as you recommend, but even if you just leave the car to manage the DPF it will give you an Amber alert at approximately 23g , so providing you then activate the forced regen and get the car over 40mph it will bring the soot level down to less than 1g… within minutes. …..Wories over !!!

I was getting persistent DPF messages, both amber and red but the GAP IID tool showed the soot level as zero and so wouldn't force a regen (I have the beta option enabled).

Error messages on IID were the usual P040D EGR sensor Bank A and DPF regeneration failure due to too many attempts.

It finally got to a point that the car dropped in to permanent DPF Full, restricted performance mode.

I eventually managed to get the thing booked in under warranty through the garage that I bought it from and was advised to take it to Woburn 4x4. That was an eventful 60 mile two hour journey!

The upshot after a week was that I got the car back and fingers crossed haven't had a recurrence of the fault.

This is the invoice from Woburn 4x4 (who I would recommend if you're in the area, Andrew's a really nice bloke to deal with);

Indeed. I've done 2.5k miles since then, about 800 with the near two tonne tintent on the back and no recurrence.

Happy days!

Chaps,

It may be possible to incur a red "DPF Full" alert where this is not preceded by an amber warning.

During lockdown in the early part of this year I had been using a "shopping trolley" in the discharge of my responsibilities as carer to an elderly relative. For reasons I'll not trouble you with I had to stop using the cheap car. Which meant reverting to my FF for the required twice daily short journeys.

Aware of course that I was pushing my luck in respect of DPF failure, options for longer trips to regenerate in the climate prevailing at the time were limited. It might reasonably be argued that I should simply have done this regardless.

Unsurprisingly, I ended up with a red DPF Full alert. And Limp Mode.
I did not however get an amber alert preceding this.

Fortunately, forced regen was successful following transport on a low loader to my Indy.
Since when the shopping trolley has been replaced enabling appropriate adjustment of my (FF) driving habits.

However, my Indy was unable to offer an explanation for the sequence of events in respect of DPF alerts.
I've not found any posts indicating previous similar occurrences.
Anyone have any thoughts ?

One of the reasons it can go directly to red is a leak.
Usual process: start by checking the donut hoses

Anyone know when GAP will make the DPF function available in a GA release? Christian.

I think you will have to ask Pat to answer your question, but I can happily confirm that I used it again last week to forced a regen and it worked perfectly.

Did a forced regen and it went from 16g down to this in about 15 mins of motorway driving at 60-70mph

Christian,
One interesting point about your screenshot.
When mine went to below 1g of soot the reading changed to 9g not 0.9g , but when I checked in live values it was actually less than 1g.
Glad you have got it working OK.
Is it stil Beta 2765, or is it on general release now ?

Hey Mike.
That’s odd, I’ve noticed the orientation of the iPad/iPhone can do some odd things like what you describe. Perhaps that could be the reason.

Have you reported it as a beta bug to Patrick?

I’m running the beta. Christian.
