On a different note, when you have got it running you could sort out the seats with some black leather dye, make them all the same colour.... Thumbs Up

My money is on something fairly easy for the overheating, bet it's not the head gaskets... Thumbs Up Pete

Haylands

I'd almost stick my yearly salary on it not being the headgaskets tbh. Seems odd why the fan wasn't even spinning when the temp was at 122°c when the engine was off and the ignition on so soon as I get an earlish finish then I'll start testing the fan to see if I'm getting power too it.

Insurance wasn't too bad either only £1200. The shebeast (ex) got me onto her trade policy which I then took over for 6 years but soon as we went our own ways turns out I lost all my no claims bonus. Only 15 years ncb down the drain

Boom boom flipping boom. Range all fixed. Battery was dead at 4v so chucked a new one on, cleared all the codes and now it runs sweet as. Taken it for a drive for a few miles as its not currently taxed so stayed local. No overheating or anything suspect. I'll do a coolant change on it too be safe and get it serviced with the gearbox service as well.

Now the big question do I keep this or my old 53 plate 4.4 v8....

So it was just low voltage causing the fan not to work and that’s what was causing the overheating? That was a stroke of luck!

It would appear so David. I'm going to get it taxed starting from next month (no point paying a whole month for a weeks use) and then take it out for a few hours and take a few supplies with me so 1st job will be a trip to dta and get the gearbox sorted. Once that's done with the inspection I'll take it for a drive for a few hours so can test it properly but getting it up to temp and doing a few miles would do the trick as it over heated when I was loading it onto my trailer.

Ding

Yea I've been extremely lucky for it too pay off mate. Sometimes just gotta go for things when they are cheap enough.

Well done and many congrats great to see another ffrr still doing what it was built to do. Brilliant. I’m sure there’s an added warm feeling knowing u only paid £2k for it as you bumble along the country road or hurtle down the motorway.

Not sure I'll get too enjoy the country lanes in East London but I know what you mean. Nice feeling knowing it didn't even cost me £2.5k to my door and its running

Cheers Dale. I done a bit of digging and the guy sold it a few weeks before for £4k. The new owner screamed it was head gasket failure..... well thanks too him I got it a dam site cheaper so I'm happy.

Need to start adding a few touches next so next main job after it's been to the garage will be looking at the blower motor. It still works but it's quite noisy and the noise speeds up as you increase the fan speed so it's either a broken fan or something has fallen down into it.

Next easy job will be getting some full fat stickers sourced

Cheers chaps

I've always been a risk taker when I see something cheap enough I'll go for it. Life is always full of risks but it can backfire now and then. It was pretty much a sure thing that I wouldn't loose. Even if it was the headgasket I'd have either replaced them or stripped it for parts. Brand new Cooper zeon wheels and push the interior I'd have already made.at least 60% of my money back.

If I give you my numbers and we win I'll charge you 95% service charge yea hahahaha
