United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black

Watching with interest JayGee. Mine has started to Censored about as well. Sometimes it will work more or less instantly or I might have to travel 3 miles or more to get a whiff of coolness.
Sometimes it starts to work after going round a sharp corner!!! Big Cry
Mine was meant to have had a new compressor not long before I bought it 2 years ago.

Just looked as Sam’s motor and machines YouTube vid on compressor replacement and it looks a right pig of a job. Will likely get a garage to do it and if they are removing the fan I’ll get them to do the alternator as well as preventative maintenance now it’s gone past 140k 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Mines off to to be tested/re gassed today.

I'll take all the points made above onboard and ignore the chippy ones - its just not needed. We are all here to help each other and different experiences lead to a solution normally. Gavin

I keep hearing good things about them and even though it's a fair distance from me if I can get a courtesy car and leave it with them for a few days with a list of jobs it's going to minimise my downtime. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

When I turned the engine on the condenser temp started to drop down quickly but after a few seconds it was back up to the internal temperature so no cooling at all even after a 5 min drive. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

That pressure is way too low, what was it when you started it up?

ETA what is the static pressure and temperature (I.e. ignition on, engine off, climate control off) for an ambient of 25 it should be around almost double your measurement above.

9 hours later the system is at 6.3Bar with ignition on and not running and doesn't change. Evap temp is 35deg and hotter than the in car temp and only comes down when you switch off the AC i.e running the AC makes the car interior warmer Embarassed . 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

In that case, a recover, recharge & extended leak check should sort you out, static pressure should be around 8 bar at that temperature, it only needs ~10% liquid refrigerant to give a similar reading to the one you have, even if you get a leak-free test, I strongly suggest that some UV compressor oil is added to the system to aid any future diagnosis.

A static pressure/temperature check eliminates all other components other than the refrigerant, in your case, the pressure is low for the stated ambient temperature, therefore the first thing to do is recover, recharge and leak check - with a static check, the pressure is equal throughout the system, even one with restrictions, faulty control valves etc. If the pressure was in the expected range for the ambient temperature, then it would warrant further investigation, possibly compressor or filter-drier replacement but with a pressure I'd expect to see with a ten degree lower ambient, then there's clearly something wrong with the refrigerant charge level. I'd hazard a guess that you have about a 40% loss - and that is a guess.
