England 2014 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

I'm sorry but I have to disagree, if it was running fine then suddenly cut off and wouldn't start them I can't see it being a head gasket, it wouldn't lose enough compression over 8 cylinders to cut out in such a short period of time, if one gasket failed, and it's unlikely to have a dramatic 4 cylinder failure, then it should still run like a pig on the other side, if it started to run bad then cut out it sounds more like a fuel issue, especially as it now starts with a bit of easy start.

Do you have an IID or similar that you can use to work your way through the live values..??

Having said all that I agree a compression check is a quick and easy thing to do to rule out issues... Thumbs Up Pete

No worries Pete. It's really a guessing game without more info.

I agree a compression test is something that will help no arrow the field. ______________________________

Hi

Were the injectors in the damaged cylinders checked or replaced?

Agree a compression check would give a good indication whether mechanical or electrical.

Hey Everyone.

Hope you all are enjoying your Christmas Day dinners!!! I've eaten plenty of food so should have enough energy to tackle back into this RR!

Anyways; Haylands - Thanks for that ray of hope, hopefully you are correct. I do have a IID tool so should be able to read the live values. This should shed more light.

@Matt_980 I the injectors where not replaced or checked, perhaps there is something wrong here.

So. This is my POA

1/ Check Injectors Live Readings
2/ Check Turbo's
3/ Check Compression.
4/ Check in Tank Pump

This should narrow the whole saga down. Thumbs Up

I went at the RR today. Gave the battery a full charge overnight and connected her back up this afternoon.

It started first turn of the key.

White smoke initially wasn't so bad, but then got worse as the engine got slightly warmer. Managed to get values using my Handheld.

Injector 4's value are well off everything else and don't change when rev'd. Could this is the issue? The readings where taken at idle.

Sorry, don't know enough about the fuel of the devil but I'd swap the injector with another one to see if the problem swaps with it...

Good news on it starting though.... Thumbs Up Pete

I must try and find out which cylinder the injector corespondent too, as I don't think they match with the same cylinder number? I've got a new error code tonight. P0266 Cylinder 2 Contribution/Balance Fault. Probably related to this.

Whilst the engine is running and you have live values, can you pull the plug off one of the injectors and see what it corresponds to on your diagnosis tool.

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post219147.html this is another post that shows the layout of the cylinders. Regards

Issue is with Cyl 4, overfuelling, massively Thumbs Up

Either a faulty injector or low on compression. Injectors can be swapped to see if the fault moves with the injector, or stays on Cyl 4

If it moves, it's a faulty injector Mr. Green
If it stays, it suggests a compression issue Big Cry

DO NOT unplug an injector when the engine is running Shocked

You risk causing irreparable damage to the PCM internals Rolling Eyes

I have a spare injector. I'm going to change back to that one tomorrow on Cylinder number 4.

If I recall correctly that was the original damaged cylinder.

We changed the original injector to another old one to check if it was at fault. It was never changed back. Therefore, hopefully it is this second hand injector that is causing the trouble!!

Fingers Crossed. Would be strange to lose compression like that, when all was well.

As I mentioned earlier.

I think the fault is in cylinder number 2 with injector number 4.

We will soon find out!

Ok.

So I've changed injector number 2. Safe to say that was the problem with regards to the lump idle/ majority of white/ blue ish smoke. All injectors are now balanced.

I've left her idling now to get up to temp. There is still a small amount of smoke from the drivers side exahust. Would this disappear with a run? It whitish, blueish in color.
