Hey Haylands. We haven't done it yet. But don't worry we will do before we seal everything up. We have rotated it twice and each time it comes back perfect at each of the three locations for the special tools (LH, RH Heads, and Block). When you say timing marks what exactly do you mean? All we have used is the various special tools which came in the timing kit and the instructions in both the workshop manual and kit instruction don't mention marks.

I hope so! Can't be wrong on this one.

Anyways, we rotated the head a number of more times this evening and all lined up well. We then put the rocket covers back on, installed the injectors and installed the sump & diff. Here is pictures of tonight's progress. All is looking well.

Next we plan to install EGRs and associated items! It then should be ready to bolt in!
Hoping to go back at it tomorrow and finish the job!

Engine is back at the mechanics waiting for fitting. I'm told it will be sorted next week. At this point I'm nervous! Hopefully we managed to put everything back together correctly and she runs nicely...

Really will be nervous rack starting her up. She does rotate nicely by hand and lines up each time so!!! Fingers Crossed. Thumbs Up

Gentlemen, & Ladies!! She lives. Fired her up this evening. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. Nonetheless, after alot of cranking and couple of coughs she fired. Ran slightly rough until got up to temp. Now is perfect. But however, all looks well!

What a steep learning curve, but alas I believe it is something anyone could do! Should have her out on the road and back operating tomorrow, if nothing goes wrong!!

Please see attached proof! Laughing

Good on you for ignoring folk and getting on with it. I didn't know **** about engines and gearboxes until I took a set of spanners and dismantled one. Admittedly a bit simpler being a 2.25D rather than TDV8. Ed

Very well done. A lot of people comment to me about how complex the must be, but the reality is that most engines are the same basic mechanicals underneath, and just lots of electric gubbins bolted on.

Top marks for getting it all running again. V8 or else ...
