Reduced engine power warning

Today I experienced for the first time what I think was limp mode. The engine died in the ass, when is was just cruising at 70kmh and under 1500 rpm. I pulled over and the engine idled as normal. The warning disappeared. And it was ok after a restart. The IID Tool bought up the following messages.

P023D-22 (6C) Manifold absolute pressure - turbocharger/supercharger boost sensor A correlation - General signal failure - signal amplitude>maximum

Any suggestions? I’m thinking possibly split intercooler hose. ______________________________

Ta Stan. Yep will be doing the easy stuff first like hoses and MAP condition. Then sticky turbo actuator. Next, failing MAP.

Hopefully the search stops there.

Also I cleared and did another fault search while idling on the side of the road. The fault wasn’t repeated. ______________________________

Will do Paul.

Frightened the hell out of me as immediately thought a turbo had spontaneously gone pop. Quickly pulled over across three lanes of traffic, and popped the bonnet. Checked the engine bay for strange noise and oil, checked the exhaust for oil smoke. Nothing. ______________________________

My car goes bong and logs the code mainly if I'm under load, towing, especially up hill.
However it has cropped up a few times under normal acceleration.

Thumbs Up

Take off and check the top right inter cooler hose. Will probably have split where it bends at the engine end under the webbing.

5 min job and most likely the cause. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I got into it this morning and quickly found a passenger side (right hand when looking at engine bay from front) intercooler hose was split on the top at the bend.

I also removed and checked the driver side pipe which was ok but had a bit of oil coated on the inside.

I repaired the hose with some silicone rescue tape that I keep in the car. I’ll try to find a pair of silicone hoses.

I also checked the MAPs which both look clean.

I think I need to get pressure test done. I can't find any leaks or splits but something isn't quite right.

You sometimes need to take the hose off to see the split or it could be under the webbing. Also don’t forget the bottom hoses, there is another 2 at the bottom and some round the turbos as well. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I will get the lot replaced. Does anyone have the part numbers for the bottom turbo hoses?

I have the part numbers for the top hoses:
* PNH500510
* PNH500500. ______________________________

I’ve been driving for about 5 days and the repair seems to be holding up. I still haven’t organised a replacement. ______________________________

Just be aware that as the hose is damaged it can still collapse internally and cause the dreaded bong, happened to me soon after my temp repair like yours.

The silicone tape fell off and the fault reoccurred. So reapplied the tape and then secured the silicone tape by wrapping it in electrical tape. That held up better.

Today I fitted new silicone top hoses from a supplier in Oz. There seems to be a noticeable increase in performance. Has anyone else noticed this afterfitting silicone intercooler hoses?
