all but the wiring harness has been removed. we will put a system back in at a later date but done by a pro.

in the mean time im gonna cable tie the hell out of the cables to keep them tidy

Soooooo update time.

i have driven it!!!!!

im still waiting on a few more bits to arrive to "finish" it.

i decided i had to go to work to check on things so on my way home i thought to hell with it let use the damn thing......

within 2.3m i was awaiting the preffered habitat of the FF sadly a hose under the SC was venting its warm contents out into the engine bay!!!! YAY

after practicing social distancing on the back of a transporter (i did put it on FB it was weird) i got it home.

no knowing how everything comes out i removed the SC then double and tripple checked the hoses an the routing and the connections...

rebuilt the thing and tested hell yeah it now runs with out "issue"

we are now awaiting the new thermostat housing so can get that fitted will then drain system and fill with antifreeze

need the new battery to arrive

then i need to figure out a couple of things after the above...

1. why my key doesnt recharge (can the internal battery be changed??)

2. why the heating isnt working no hot coming out!!!

HI Matt

Glad you got to go out not glad about the probs!

1. The key needs to be cut open with a Stanley blade to get the pub out you can then see what the battery type is and buy one on eBay and solder it on. You can either glue up the case (nasty) or buy a new case from eBay for about a fiver and have it looking like a brand new key which I did.

2. No heat will be your water issue - did you bled it right? you have to take the bleed screw out of the header tank and the one out of the elbow above the s/c coolant pump, fill with water /af I just keeping filing it until a strep comes out of the bleed holes with no bubbles. usually do the s/c pump one up then I put the key in position 2 and it will fire up the s/c pump and try to bleed that way. if all is good and no bubbles I put the head bleed screw in and leave the cap off the header tank and run it heaters on full (who do I leave the cap off so the excess fluid can spill out if needed) hold revs at 2-3k for a few minutes you should have heat then put the cap on.

Where was your coolant leak from? after have my charger out there is a pipe that clips into some cowling clips near the top of the fan.. I didn't clip these in and the fan shredded it open. so new pipe ad we were golden.. Current stable:

Hi Dan.

i will do that with the key fob at some point.

as for the heating issue. so i removed both bleed screws filled through expansion with the twin pipe to the SC radiators off. waited to little spurts of water then filled down SC pipes tighten bleed screw on pump end. kept filling through expansion till full, then filled down the SC pipes to get final fill. reconnected all left bleed open on tank ran engine up no coolant loss through system but heat not working

i have to do it all again in an hour or so any way when i put the new thermostat in and change the water for antifreeze mix.

as for where the leak was....... im pretty sure one of the pipes under the SC wasn't either tight enough or seated right.

Hi dan.

yeah i was supposed to update this so my bad also..

it is running and running right ?!?!?!?!?!

replaced thermo stat and housing emptied and refilled the coolant with anti freeze and now have heat coming out the heaters inside.

so im very happy at the moment.

need to get the air con refilled but other than that its all good.

will be starting a new thread soon to document all the things i do from here on in.

and there is a really big list so it should be a good thread for evey one

Cool pleased for you - what do your field trims read like at idle 0? Or a bit rich or a bit lean? Just curious after a rebuild how accurate it is - side not what have you spent on the rebuild excluding labour? Current stable:

hi dan,

we spent roughly around the thousand mark on spares roughly, it could be closer to 1300 but i didnt record everything.

i also dont include the tools i bought personally either (dont tell the wife either)

As for fuel trim.... no idea, havent plugged it into anything to monitor it.

the only time it has been plugged in was getting the damn to fire up after rebuild, and i had to plug all the gas items back in and remove them one at a time tilll jst the ecu was left, tyhen i reset everything to factory standard and thats it..

when i get a gap tool at some point in the next few years i will let you know..

as for the oil cap removal i will try it later when i get home

How is she running now?

Quick question I assume you had to remove the oil filler neck? Mine was leaking so bought a new neck but seemed loose where the clip was so I turned it 1/4 past the clip and its solid now - just wondered what yours was like and if I should / shouldn't have done that. Current stable:

she is now running very nice.

got a few issues, like missfire but its a known issue on ours so i just clear the codes every once and a while.

that and the steps have never come back down since i did the rebuild (no idea on that)

but yes i had to remove that with the rocker case, in all honesty i havent looked to hard at it.

What misfires codes do you have?

Yea basically I turned the tube 1/4 PST the locking clip as it was loose it super tight now and smoke tested it and not leaking so think I will leave it that way unless anyone can forsee any issues Current stable:

Hi dan.

when i actually read them properly (using a foxtool) i get misfire readings on cylinders at some point.

im pretty sure its a dodgy loom from the old gas system, but i cant be sure, we need to either have that old system completely removed / coded out or get a gas system refitted to it.

are you sure you don't have a couple of dodgy coils I kept having cylinder 5 misfires and changed the plug and coil all sorted Current stable:

it could be,

at some point i have to do a service on it will see if the cures a few issues then go from there. at the moment its only do the school run really. it some times gets a blast when i take it to work but thats cause i enjoy the noise to much lol
