United Kingdom 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Corris Grey

Today I did my annual front knuckle penetration dye crack test on my L405 (fortunately without drama Laughing ) and did a mini-service on the front brake calipers at the same time, cleaned them up took out all the pads & pins and applied aluminium grease ready for Winter. The 2 Y.O. bleed nipples were starting to rust, so cleaned those & applied Lanoguard grease with an artists’ brush, will replace them next Spring when I change the pads. V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Firenze Red

Today I returned from an enjoyable week long trip in the caravan, towing it across the country - a task which the car performed faultlessly*, like every other family trip**

* Except for a park brake motor failure, when the bark brake motors where replaced recently as a precaution
** 5 trips ago, the rear ACE pipes failed, 4 trips ago we had to take a different car as the RR was in the garage getting new ACE pipes, 3 trips ago an earth point failed, 2 trips ago we had to take a different car as the RR was in the garage getting the earth point repaired, 1 trip ago we successfully completed a trip without incident.

I gave the RR its usual pre-winter deep clean. Clay bar, polish and then wax. Makes it easier to keep clean when the winter arrives and the weather is grim. Couldn’t resist getting a photo once done.

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Santorini Black
first long(ish) trip

Got back from a week away in Devon, and the old girl did ok, just clicked over to 139k, just shy of a 400-mile round trip.

Coped with the A roads and motorways fine and dandy, although it didn't really like the B-roads or low speed roads, felt like the gearbox couldn't decide where it wanted to be, and as a result was either too long in a particular gear (over-running if you like?), or changed willy-nilly.

Also, during the run, I noticed moments of hesitation from the engine, kind of like a turbo lag sort of thing on acceleration, as well as what sounded like a fan coming on inside the engine. (possibly due to the lower speeds)?

Also coped well with some of the tight lanes encountered on the way to various hidden beaches & coves, with a few momentos to remind us of our trip (scratches all down the sides), some of these lanes were covered on each side with brambles and other vegetation, oh well, all in a day's work for a fatty, I guess 👍

I loved the fact that when it looks like you're in trouble with surfaces or ruts, the press of a button can get you sorted.

I know now why they are called fattys, as we ended up in a pickle of a 20-point turn due to a road being blocked and a debatable diversion sign.

Fuel consumption was as expected, although an average speed of 29mph & 28mpg 😳 including m-way & a-road, kind of tells the tale of a rainy week in Devon.

Gave her a much deserved wash yesterday and really saw the extent of the scratches 😳😳😳😳 so may have to book into a detailers for a treatment.

Will probably go a little further on the next trip, but a few things to do before our next adventure. 2011 4.4 Vogue, Santorini

Bought the Invery Airdual Bluetooth adaptor - reliable streaming music from my iPhone at last. Tried FM transmitter units in the cigar lighter but could never get a ‘clean’ frequency to use. No longer an issue, I’m pleased to say! The sound is fantastic (Harmon Kardon Logic).
