😄

Todays mission

Replace giant backbox with resonated x pipe silencer

Local place wants 300 for some tubing and labour, rip off but no choice as i wont be buying any exhaust bending and flaring machines ever 😞

In my head this will be the perfect setup

X pipe promotes deeper notes

This is a resonated x pipe so will be a litttle quieter than a backbox delete

Rest of the system will remain stock cats and resonaters

Hopefully little to no drone and just nice a v8 bassline low down and angry monster WOT

Its done!

Initial test volume and tone is perfect

Silent on tickover under 2k revs and below 30% throttle its almost like stock

Wot 3k and above is very noticeable but not lunacy

Just has a deeper tone

Now it feels purrrfect

Will do a motorway check and soundclips tomorrow

So there is no drone after extensive testing at motorway speeds

Car was near silent to start now i have added maybe 2 or 3 decibels when driving economically

It sounds pretty much stock unless you hoon it

Sounds a bit airy as all clips are on a s24 ultra only and outdoors or windows down

That sounds good.

I wish mine had a switchable exhaust like the SVR's do as a quiet mode or loud mode would be nice. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Thanks mate

A valved system is quite easy to get made under 1k

However i dont like how restrictive they are on quiet mode

This is the best balance no restrictions no drone and near stock when driving like a gentleman

Infact if all windows are closed and u drive normally no one inside the car is any wiser.

On different note

Refit stock sub today how underwhelming but its fine 🙂

Some c**t hit my car today outside a coffee shop and made off a different member of public gave me the suspect reg

Not worth a claim but will certainly report to police so they can get the auto letter of failing to stop at an accident

That sounds lovely, makes me want a S/C V8 but they are commanding such high prices for anything half decent. Great job, well done.

Thanks mate, when i was the hunt i went to see maybe 10 between 7 and 15k and every single one was a pos one way or another

I actually had the budget for a l405 5.0 but the insurance put me off at 5k living in london

In the end i settled on this one 7.5k 128k miles
Needed alot of love however it had the chains done fully loaded and good cosmetic condition throughout.

Now this car owes me 13k total but i doubt i will find another well sorted example under 20

Todays shenanigans

Had the tracking sorted even though it felt perfect to start

Found a new biscut tin

Wife has given me ideas to make the car girly....i said i will start with pink valve caps 😄

In todays massive update

I bought some speakers to replaced the failed midbass in the drivers door

Finding decent 2ohm speakers was pretty rough

I was tempted to buy custom made 2ohm speakers from Canada by cdt audio but i had to stop myself and said this car only needs to be good for karaoke and sing alongs on long family trips
