I'm sort of in a similar position with my 2007 tdv8 but its not failed the test yet! I'm a decent welder so I expect I'll be repairing mine myself.

Multimeter and power probe and learn how to use them to diagnose the problem. It's most likely the switch but it could be the non working item(s). Hopefully not the wiring between!

A pusher type tool is whats needed. Needs to be suitably large to fit. I got one off ebay but had to grind bits off it to make it fit. Worked fine.

Unless it's a shadow or something if looks like you can see the dent on the inside. I very much doubt its double skinned and it's already been said it's not by someone who's done repairs in that area. ...
