I don't know why I am transfixed by this thread but I keep reading it even though I am only really interested in Full Fat Range Rovers. Its like on my bicycle forum where people pontificate about the benefits of wearing a helmet, who cares?. When I am bored I occasionally wind people up by admitting to being a Tory, riding an electric bike, using supermarket fuel, driving a Range Rover AND having two seats at Manchester United but again - Who cares you'll never change anyones mind one way or another but its fun to watch people trying. Nooooooo, dont do that or we will have to start paying road tax and fuel duty, you keep on burning oil

Enjoy the freebies like no EV road tax whilst it lasts - the Chief Bean Counter will eventually erode that perk.

They'll take away your tricycle eventually - this is the goal: to take away everything.
You'll own nothing - but be happy...

Shocked

And what are tricycle tyres made from?

Even my earplugs (yes I did say ear) will eventually be taxed or be banned and then the other half's snoring will surely finish me off - job done for the WEF and that Bond villain who runs it... Yawn

Without continual structural work I would agree with you on that point.

One of the reasons I did not replace my L322 with another one.

You'll know all about brainwashing, I'm sure!!! Rolling with laughter

Look into my eyes look into my eyes not around my eyes but into my eyes... Now go purchase an EV gimmick car...

I think it was intended to be tongue in cheek rather than avoid the question. If you regularly tow anything of significant weight than an EV probably shouldn't be on your shopping list... 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Very true with the exception of Tesla Model X and Hyundai Ioniq 5, both tow and tow very well. Excellent characteristics from electric drive, good use of regen braking etc, range is somewhat scuppered though, not dissimilar to an ICE car in that respect.

A good Plu In Hybrid is probably a good halfway house if a lot of towing is undertaken. BMW i3 Electric Car

Another question with towing is, how do you recharge with a Tin Tent on the back? Do you have to unhook, recharge and then hook it back up?
Could be a big issue for a touring holiday.

I owned a plug in Hybrid it was awful, averaged about 25mpg compared to the 45mpg of the diesel car I replaced it with and was of no benefit at all. Having owned one, I would never again. The only up side was parking it in EV charging spots back when they were always available Rolling with laughter

Towing with electric seems to cut range by 40-60% in real world tests, which makes them pretty unusable for touring caravans IMO. We tow a 1950kg van occasionally and I can tell you, all you want to do is get to site and get set up and stopping to charge wouldn’t be the best start to a holiday.

After this thread I have been pricing up options, but nothing makes financial sense even a ID.4 is the best part of 50k in the spec I would want and that’s allot of cash for a Golf level car. EV’s seem to be a good excuse for manufacturers to continue to push their customers into monthly payments and away from ownership with sky high pricing. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

How are you all getting quotes from Octopus website?
they just tell me to stay where i am or get an email when prices fall. If i want a quote i have to call them!!

As for EV's i personally am not ready yet i am too in love with the combustion engine!! not ready to make the move.
as they mature we will be left with no option anyhow as new sales of cars will all end up being electric.

as for the green side of it there is so much bull Censored out there you really cannot tell what is true and what is not there seems to be as many plausible arguments for as there are against. and it is clear on this thread there are those who want to believe the for and those against.

as for the candy offered to get one now we all know that will be short lived and when we all plug in there will be tax to pay if it is no longer coming from fuel (Petrol or diesel) 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current
