Thumbs Up Do you have a chargepoint installed Mikey? If so, what did you go for?

Not installed yet, but sparky is on the case. Had him on standby since January when the order went in

He suggested a particual charger. All I know is it uses electricity Neutral

Kind of wish I'd gone for an I-Pace now, but its a lot of money for what will essentially be a school run car...

And in 2-3 years time when the warranty runs out, LR *should* have something fully electric by then

Fair Fuel UK has been reacting to the cost of charging an electric car rising by 42%.

Oh-deary me!

Looks like a rosy future for EVs for the very rich only...

Now where's my Penny Farthing I wonder?

And yet, despite the electricity price increases, our Mini will still cost about ⅓ of what our Disco Sport is costing to keep in fuel Whistle

Pick it up tomorrow afternoon Thumbs Up

Hope you don't get all squashed up in the mini - although I love the more retro fake chrome variety... even though the reliability record is dire for the poor old min...

Always preferred them on Twiggy... Very Happy

Crikes it looks like many EVs were stranded as the poor peeps in Florida etc where the bad weather hit tried rushing around to reach various points of safety...

Big Cry

Or maybe it's fake news?!? Not the BBC though - so maybe not.

We had to charge the Mini yesterday

It used £7.34 to charge from 23% to 100%, which gives a range of around 100 miles. Public charging would have halfed that cost at todays prices

Price of diesel is as good as £8 a gallon. How many miles do you get?

There seems to be some heated feelings and maybe a few sarcastic posts in this thread. The focus seems to be on the running costs of EVs v Range Rovers - there can only be one winner even a simpleton like me can figure that one out. I think those who drive Range Rovers, like me, do it because they want to and so when there is a Range Rover EV I'll probably buy one but until then I'll keep myself amused by reading this thread from time to time. Like I say to my mates who laugh at my 30mpg, mpg isn't amongst the criteria I use when buying a car. Geoff

Well yes it does appear to be... One can imagine the long queues of EV fan-babes waiting minimum half hour but often-times longer to get 'juiced up' while the RR peeps in the bad hit (I got family with property there - seems all gone!) region take 3-5-mins (unless there's a pizza hut at the gas station of course) of gas-up before they're on their merry way. I guess that's why many EVs got left behind, still charging no doubt, and maybe upgrading at the same time so the manufacturer can disable some of the gimmicks the car was sold to them with, only to charge them again, as the items were accidentally mistakenly added at the sales push time - or they'll lock you out of the EV gimmick fad car until you cough up, again, and again, and again!
Those EV don't like too much heat, by the way, and can become problematic. Best not even mention how they react to the cold, 'like what' we've just entered in the UK (solar minimum period for 12 to 28 years and no green marble chewers can do anything about it whatsoever)...
