United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

I’m pleased with mine, but that list of what needs to be done is both growing in length and urgency. The car was less loved before I purchased her than I realised. I now need new pulleys, new ac compressor, to battle the calliper retention pins to try to stop brake squeals, and the gearbox needs some love too… hopefully just oil and filter change.

I really want to get the bodywork up to scratch but not going to tackle that until the rusty bits are sorted… and they’ll not be done until those bits above are sorted Big Cry

But as I say, and despite all that I’m still loving the car and enjoying working on her myself.

I’d be interested to try 40 profile tyres as a comparison but would prefer the same tyres, and decent tyres too. I am happy I upgraded to bigger sidewalls for sure. The 40’s give an extra 0.6” whereas the 45’s give a whopping 1” extra!!! That should definitely help with these Lincolnshire roads Laughing Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Oh, and I still have a lot of tyre noise!
But that’s a post for another day after I start looking more closely at why! Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

So I've actually got some pics of the fatty with the deployable sidesteps fitted. Rather chuffed with them, though the only thing I'm not too happy about is the silver colour of them when they are stowed away under sill. They really don't set the car off so I'm going to get some gloss black vinyl wrap and cover the aluminium sides, make it look like before they was fitted.

Looking good. And I’m very jealous Laughing

I agree changing the silver for black would look a lot better. Are there sidesteps available that are already black? They would be more hard wearing and you could possibly sell your silver ones for the same? Just food for thought… Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

I did look into that ffrr lover but couldn't see any so opted for the gloss black vinyl wrap. Hopefully I'll get time to do it over the next few weeks.

Thanks Will, it's such a great colour. Shame they don't use it anymore.

So Monday the car was dropped off at the paintshop near Bristol to have the roof, upper tailgate rust treated, rear spoiler and door handles to be resprayed. The roof was awful with the lacquer peeling and was getting worse with every wash. The rear spoiler was bubbled with the rear stop light distorted/faded and the tailgate had a small amount of rust in the usual places. Door handles had faded slightly so having it all done at the same time. Also bought genuine roof antenna as gps not working and bad tv signal, along with a rear spoiler brake light both from powerful uk.

That's how bad the roof was.

Next job, refurbish the wheels but i want a real high standard job done on them.

Enjoy verydisco they are a cracking car. My missus loves hers. I blanked off the egr and got it remapped and drives like a dream. The satnav is much better in the fl2 compared to the fatty, much much better. She's had it a year and the only problem she had was the crank position sensor went on it. Easy enough to change, front drivers wheel off, arch lining off and it's there in front of you. I watched the rac dude do it lol. Since remapped she's now getting 39mpg up from 29mpg 44mpg on motorway. Any pics of yours?

Yes it's a great car and the most reliable Land Rovers, I think.
No issues; we have an IID tool for it but never use it!
It had the read diff upgrade, and we did all the fluids, including auto box, plus filters, etc, when we bought it out of principal.
We just had in rear wheel bearing replaced in 3 years! l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

What's the rear diff upgrade? I did read up that they are prone to failing on the FL2. Was it an expensive upgrade? Just something to think about should it ever happen.

Just picked up car from the bodyshop to have roof, spoiler, tailgate and door handles resprayed. They have done a fantastic job and looks so much better. It was bugging me big time driving it around like that with the lacquer flaking off. And they was the cheapest from the quotes i had. I will definitely use them again, the owner knows his stuff about fatties so that's a bonus.

The main reason I have an L322 is that the lacquer on my Audi Allroad went in the same place and it just felt like walking around with a hole in my jumper. I was quoted big £ to get it fixed and it wasn't worth it. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I think the lot of the time owners don't polish the cars enough and leave them out in hot sun all the time in summer, plus the winter too jaygee.
The total cost was £1283. 67 which i thought was reasonable and cheaper by £300-£400 from other quotes i had. I'm over the moon with it. Next job, the wheels.
