It could be cracked solder joints on the potentiometer.

I had the same issues as you. I even replaced the output shaft speed sensor.

I'm also interested as I need to fix the LH headlight wiper. I believe the bumper has to come off to remove the wiper motor.

^^ Mark, are you sure there are no cracks in the potentiometer soldered joints? Mine had cracked joints. I resoldered them and that cleared the problem. That was 3-1/2 years and 25,000km ago.

Dumb Aussie here. Why the corrosion? I’ve never seen corrosion on discs in a regularly driven vehicle since getting my first disc brake-equipped car in 1971 (Hillman Hunter).
