I have identical problem Durham.have they checked the sensors etc? Some places jump to the compressor as the problem i find, when it could be something else.I have had suspension inactive on for about 3 weeks now but no sagging and when it does self adjust when i have taken stuff out the boot for instance it levels with no problems and quickly to.this makes me question if its the compressor on mine.need to see what the fault code is really to decide what to do next.Am i right in thinking the compressor is works when it needs to when driving around normally?if so surely i would have `sagging issues by now?? Very Happy Good luck with the problem mate, and keep us updated 05`V8 AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Mine hasn't sagged at all its just stuck at normal ride height and in locked out, they have cleared the code but as soon as I started it to drive home it came up with suspension fault again, I have read other posts on the forum that say the pressure valve can throw the same fault code, I'm tempted to just get the garage to do it as they are doing it at a decent price and if it does re occur I can take it back

Will the fault codes need clearing after? also I'm just concerned if its the battery that's caused it and if I do the compressor myself then I won't have a comeback if its a mid diagnosis, they seem convinced its the compressor but would it throw the same fault if the battery voltage dropped to low?

I doubt the garage will offer any money back if its diagnosed wrong dude, if thats what the diagnostics say then thats all they can go with. In fact morer and more common is a sign at reception in garages that says all diagnostic work is payable wether the fault is found/rectified or not due to the complexity of modern cars. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Fair point, iv just got in the back of my mind that its the battery causing it and not the compressor but to be honest they had it running today and the fault came straight back up so that might eliminate low voltage :s who knows, I love range rovers haha, was hoping to get my arches done this month but looks like she wants a compressor first

The battery is easy to test, have you done that, like you say if it came back instantly looks to be something other than that. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

I think I'm just going to get the garage to fit a new compressor, £360 all in dosen't seem to bad and they haven't charged me for diagnostics, only problem is I will have to get it done when I get paid and I'm off to Scotland the day before payday, will I encounter any problems or will it just remain in standard road height as it is now?

Are you in the RAC ??? I would say if its stayed up for the last few days why should it suddenly decide to go down, cant you pay on a card and get it done now to be safe, if you were a reg customer of mine in the same boat i would ask for a contribution to the part and say settle up when you get back from sweaty land. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Durham-I think its fine to drive.Had mine like this in locked out mode for 3 weeks or so and have had no issues.I assume it wont change to motorway height whilst driving but thats not the end of the world.as long as there is no sagging it,in the short term,it should be fine. When are you getting the compressor done?please keep us posted as i am interested to see the outcome.
Can anyone tell me if compressor is constantly working on/off when driving.eg every time you go over a bump? 05`V8 AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Hi Durham4416

Update to mine:- Autologic diagnosed fault as front drivers height sensor so I have just changed this one and then got the error cleared using a buddies Autoboss. Within a mile the Air Susp Inactive error code was back.

Its been a few weeks now with this fault ever since my rear Drivers side Height sensor broke and was replaced. Compressor appears to be working correctly and there is no sagging of the suspension.

I am unable to get to the bottom of the fault so it looks like it may have to go to the Indy and I'll have to get the credit card warmed up. Very depressing after carrying out all this work crawling around a snowy driveway. 2002 Vogue Epsom Green with Ivory Leather.

Further Update.

Borrowed my mates Autoboss and did some testing.

First cleared the error which was a Activity implausable, front right.

With the Autoboss connected I then started the car. No errors, car in normal height
Put car into Off Road mode:- Front raised but back stayed still, compressor continued to run but no further height change.
Put car into Normal Mode:- No change, still high at front.
Put car into Access mode:- Rear left lowered but other 3 corners stayed same.
Put car into Normal mode:- All 4 corners adjusted to correct height.

Left for an hour.

Started car up with no errors.

Selected Off Road:- 3 sides raised leaving Rear Left low.
Selected Normal mode:- no change
Selected Access:- No change
Selected Normal mode:- 3 sides lowered but still lower on Left rear.

Switched off. Restarted and car leveled itself to correct Normal height. No Errors logged.

Left for 30 mins.

Restarted car with no errors.

Selected Off road:- car raised in all 4 corners (8cms at front, 4-5cms at back)
Selected Normal:- all 4 corners lowered but only slightly (2cms)
Selected Access:- front 2 lowered another 2 cms
Selected Normal:- Car back to original height
Selected Access again:- Only rear left lowered to 3cms below normal
Selected Normal:- Car back to normal height

It seems to be confused about what it is supposed to be doing. No errors are logged

Go for a drive and within 1/2 a mile Error "Active Susp Inactive" is back Big Cry

ANy help would be greatly appreciated as always 2002 Vogue Epsom Green with Ivory Leather.

Sounds like your having a nightmare, to be honest I think you would probably be best having an Indy take a look before throwing any more parts at it, may just need re-calibrating, I was just going to get mine booked in at my Indy but have just won a brand new compressor on eBay for £185 delivered but I'm going to ring the Indy and see if they will fit it for me so they can clear the fault codes etc

Yep I think you're right. I am starting to get a bit pee-ed off with FF ownership after only 6 weeks. I've still got my mates AutoBoss so will maybe have a go at recalibration myself today and then book it in this week when it all goes wrong.

I had hoped somebody else on here had seen this sort of problem but it doesn't look like it.

I hope your new compressor is what you need. I got an error this morning saying Activity plausibility front right after fitting the front right sensor, I thought if I cleared it all would be good, but no.

Good luck 2002 Vogue Epsom Green with Ivory Leather.
