No, you can definitely do this - there is a member on here Meerbusch, who sells repair kits on eBay.

Hopefully he will be along soon to advise!!!

An old link, but just to give you the idea...

It's glued, just put a screwdriver between the shell and the bottom plate. cars on the side;

I assumed that's how you did it but I was worried about busting it, cheers, turns out the compressor wasn't posted when they said it was so it won't arrive till tomorrow, after lots of hassle iv agreed with parcelforce that they don't put it on the van and I will collect it first thing in the morning then drop it off at the Indy for them to fit and clear the codes, hopefully it will work, fingers crossed then I can head up to Scotland

Another twist to the tale for god sake!
My friend at landrover has just got back to me and said the one iv bought is for an 06- range rover and that it won't fit, here's some pics of the one iv bought that was advertised as an 02-05 compressor.

I bought it off eBay, it was advertised as an 02-05 compressor when it is in fact a 2006- one, I'm trying to get a refund as its not as described and then I am just going to get my Indy to supply and for one on Monday when I get back, in just hoping the suspension stays up as it seems to have dropped a little , I was contemplating disconnecting the battery to try and clear he fault codes and see if the compressor would manage to just lift it back to standard road height but not sure if its a good idea or not :s

if you clear the faults it will probably work again for a couple of day's. you can't clear the faults by disconnecting the battery though. Has to be done with a computer. cars on the side;

Hello all sufferers of the AIR SUSPENSION INACTIVE ding dong

I know there are various genuine faults that cause this message but I am pretty sure there are lots of sufferers, like me, of false alarms. Maybe a dodgy sensor, but in the past, mine has been fine for over a year, then Ill get a ding dong, get it reset and it will go again next week, then nothing for six months and so on, totally random.

Anyway, my post isnt about why it does it, more about the cost to us to have it reset by LR, if like me its happening on a regular basis.

I did some digging and found a place in the US that does a natty little reset tool, just plug it in the comms port, wait a minute and its sorted, plus you can connect it to your PC to see what the fault code was that caused it.

Im not plugging the supplier, although it is a great tool, Im just saying that if anyone wants theirs reset, and they can get to me (Croydon Surrey or Staines Middlesex for work) I would willingly do it for them.

we are most aware of a company called GAP diagnostics who are in fact site sponsors...
this company produce this reset tool you are talking about and they also produce a far superior diagnostic tool which not only resets suspension errors but also gives you the ability to play with the car configuration file so you can switch drls on/off etc..... ... - .- -.

Now now Stan!!! you being a Mod shouldn't be promoting one single product )unless backhanders were given) when there are several 'similar' products. It's up to each individual to do his own research
