I have an old plastic tundish that I have had many years that I use for oil , then clean and use for washer bottle .
I pour first 5 litre can in directly to the tundish, but then I have an old plastic measuring jug and I put one litre at a time in using that for the next 3 litres, then to top up in 0.25 litres as necessary.

I did my first service yesterday afternoon, picking up the Draper extractor as recommended above - thanks all!

I have to say, that was the easiest and cleanest service I've done on a car. Draining the oil and swapping the filter is far easier with it all accessible from the top rather than lying underneath. I'll probably want to do an old school emptying from the drain plug at some point just to flush out anything lying on the bottom though.

Hardest bit was pushing the new fuel filter back on (airbox removed to give access), and even that was only stiff.

Got a used Draper pump thing off ebay...

Pumping for 15 mins and not a sausage.

I didn't get an instructions, mainly interested to see if I can replace the seals.
Or missing something obvious...
Manual's not on the Draper website for some reason.

While I'm back to the seller Censored ...

...does anyone have a manual for the Draper 77057

. Cheers, Greg

Above says pump it for a bit. Then open the air valve

Tried that just now but nothing.

When I'm pumping, no matter how many strokes, there's no resistance.

Doesn't seem to matter where the blue valve handle's position is...

I'm kind of expecting it to work like one of those garden sprayers, you pump for a bit and you can feel resistance the more you pump...

Am I doing it wrong?
. Cheers, Greg

I just used mine with the "air control valve" in line with the pump handle (rather than at 90 degrees to it).

Pumping the handle, you can hear air coming out of the multi-holed head next to the pump handle - just as if you were using a pump for an airbed. I've just verified that. At this point, it'll start sucking through the hose. In use I didn't notice any massive difference in effort pumping. Pumped it a few times, oil started being sucked. Left it to it whilst I did other bits, came back and pumped a few more times.

Air coming out of the bit with 7 holes? Nothing. Seals might be gone...
(I thought that was storage)

 Cheers, Greg

Sorry, got that wrong Embarassed

Was playing with it in the box, it sounded as if it came from there.

On the black tube at the back that runs top to bottom, there are two small horizontal holes in the plastic cube at the top - one points in towards the oil reservoir, one points outwards. The air pumps out of those, covering them with a couple of fingers makes it impossible to push the pump handle downards.

Greg,
Sorry to read that you are struggling with the pump.
I have just got home after a very hot and sticky motorway trip.
If you need any further help I will get mine out of the garage to refresh my brain, but it didn’t come with any instructions when new.
Cheers

My guess is a faulty pump- I had one a few years ago and had used it loads of times no problem. Lent it to a mate who decided to suck the petrol out of a chainsaw with it, seems that petrol wrecks the seals.
I put new seals in but it was still hopeless so ended up getting a new one.
