you can edit posts with a laptop or tablet but not on a phone

If you find nothing with your boroscope I'd be checking continuity in the loom for MAP, Thottle Pos sensor, etc. Might be worth an auto electrician for an hour or so. Good luck 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Maybe the throttle body is gummed up. It possibly gets loosened up by movement when you remove the hose. Here are some pics of what the can and should look like.

During removal and refitting you may be bumping the nearby air-box so any wiring near or on the air-box may be getting a jiggle, such as the connector for the MAF.

My throttle looks like picture 2 Rar. Its clean and moves freely when commanded by SDD with me watching.

Graeme, ive checked and double checked all the wiring and plugs but I haven't found anything sadly.

You will just have to fiddle with wiring in an area then see if there's any change, then try another area. If the cover is being R&R'd then leave it off whilst hunting down the culprit, which could be anywhere the cover touches if triggered by the cover. You're getting very close to solving the mystery.

Have you tried leaving the plastic engine cover off yet?

Maybe it’s jiggying the MAP sensor when you remove/replace it

Worth a try........ 2007 3.6 TDV8

Decision time. Do you feel its air restriction or electrical. Given that the split in the hose was clean I would suspect electrical and, more specifically , a broken wire. It's all that's left. Get an auto electrician to sort it and end the saga. I feel your pain. Good luck. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

A second set of eyes, perhaps even carefully watching as you go through the process of removing then refitting the hose that at least sometimes temporarily fixed the problem.

I am not really sure if electrical or air restriction Grofus. I don't think it would be a broken wire as the ecm would report a fault code for this as the sensors are monitored.

We have checked through all the sensors together and the only one we all questioned was 1 of the MAF sensors reading a lower airflow value than the other.

I think it would be a good idea to try and figure out if this is 'acceptable' / 'within spec' or not.

To my mind lower airflow = less fuel delivery (please correct if this isn't the case)

Would it be possible for anybody to measure the maf values on their own TDV8 and see how they compare to mine?

So ive actually managed I think to find a problem with the damn thing!

Thought i'd have another go at the DIY smoke test (cigar installed into a small hand pump normally used for fluid transfer)

Previously i had connected this to the plugged vaccum line on the o/s of the engine.

This time I connected directly to the airbox by way of the port deactivation hose.

Smoke behan rising from deep down the o/s of the engine bay!! Hopefully this is my issue and tallys up with the lower MAF readings on im seeing on this bank.

Or it could be the result of having the turbo replaced on that side and something having not been reconnected properly.

Sadly daylight is running out however a good friend is going to help me out tomorrow afternoon to see if we can find the source of this leak.
