You get a clear down of the ecu's (even more so it you touch the battery terminal connectors together for a while), and then a reset of things when you do lock to lock after reconnection (you'll get Christmas lights on the dash when you start up!!) All the ECU's are in a chain, so everything has to be OK to get no fault codes etc. Your Air Susp Inactive could be being caused by a stored fault or fault somewhere else in the chain (not always necessarily reported!). By clearing things down you get a better chance of spotting it. It is just an option, but worth trying if nothing else is defining the problem. .

I haven't disconnected the battery yet but I did have a look at the valve/actuators and whether they were operating. Dies anyone know whether there is a set sequence of opening and closing valves for going into Off road mode or access mode.

When in Off Road height, the cross over valves should operate so that both fronts (and then both rears) operate together, sharing air, allowing for full articulation but keeping the body as level as possible. It is possible to use the car as a massive and inaccurate spirit level when in off road height |

I have just found that there is no feedback from the front right height sensor, there isn't a fault logged but still no feedback.

Just a quick question, the new one iv bought off eBay comes without the turtle (black casing) the part no 'rql000014' seems correct, I assume I am ok using the turtle off my current compressor? Does this actually serve a purpose or is it just for protection? Cheers |

just for protection, use the old one. |

I have read this thread with interest as my 2005 RR has developed a similar fault. I live in Scotland but was was in Burton Upon Trent all last week. I parked the car in the hotel car park on the Sunday evening and didn't need to use it until the Friday morning to come home, car had driven fine on the Sunday no errors or odd behaviour. Started the car on the Friday morning and got the Air Sus. Inactive message, the car is at normal ride height and doesn't sag. I first thought maybe the battery voltage had dropped (new Bosh 110A battery in June but it had been cold) so drove it a short distance to put some charge back in it and then turned it off and back on and did the steering wheel lock to lock thing, made no difference. Phoned my local Indy as I had along drive and wanted to make sure it was OK to drive, they said if it was level, wasn't making any odd suspension noises then it would be fine, so I drove the 300+ miles back home without a hitch, car drive fine, just didn't lower itself at motorway speeds. I have never heard the compressor in mine work, so I cant say if its that or not, from what I can read if you don't get the accompanying message about speed restriction then the EAS ECU can communicate with the ride height sensors, doesn't mean they are working properly but they are talking to the ECU. I have disconnected the battery and let it sit, reconnected it and got all the lights on, did the steering wheel lock to lock and they all cleared so the steering wheel angle sensor is OK, but the air suspension message remains.

Most of the time it is a worn out piston ring witch causes overheating. I fitted the kit from Meerbusch witch was good, although just a new piston ring, and a good clean-out would have been enough I suppose. |

I was going to rebuild the compressor but by the time I'd paid for the kit I managed to get a new compressor for the same cost, mine hasn't dropped and in confident enough to keep using it till I get the new compressor fitted |

read recently over on landyzone a similar problem with resevoir pressure static when filling, guy done a good write up and pictured the repair. it seems it is the valve block in front of the drivers side air tank. one of the valves fks up and causes this fault, which most people diagnose as a faulty pump. cost him 400 for the new assembly. |
